In two related articles, we have most of what I object to in this Holy Grail of Liberal ....ummm...energy independence.
The first one was complaining of the property tax up in Michigan that was wiping out their profits of almost 4 times the going rate for the electricity to power 20 houses. They get 42 cents per KWH and the going retail rate is 12 cents per KWH.
Then they went on to compare themselves with a nuke plant down the road and the taxes they pay per KWH. The nuke plant that pumps out "real" wattage that powers cities- is paying about .2 cents/KWH compared to their 12.3 cents/KWH.
Then I wondered what's the difference in acreage, because the land size wasn't mentioned.
So I went to the linked article, that had the usual Liberal demands for free ice cream.

That when the Democrats started pulling money out of SocSec back in the `70's, that HEY- it's ok- because they put in IOU's!

While lawmakers do not appear likely to enforce the limits outlined in the War Powers Resolution, U.S. officials said they are looking for ways to keep U.S. action in Libya in compliance.
Yeah, what about that pesky ol' War Powers Resolution? Why, it's our Chicago Jeezus- he'll be able to do whatever he wants with no adverse consequences.
White House spokesman Jay Carney offered no specifics Friday on how the U.S. planned to do that, only saying that officials were, "in regular communications with Congress and that will continue."
And be ready to hear about those unexpected detours of arms and money to AQ-A'stan when we start shoveling money to AQ-the Med.
The U.S. has stepped up its support of anti-Gadhafi rebels, with Obama authorizing $25 million in non-lethal assistance and $53 million in humanitarian aid.
The White House said it was looking for ways to increase U.S. financial support to the opposition, in part through congressional legislation that would free up a portion of the more than $30 billion in frozen Gadhafi regime assets in U.S. banks so it could be used to aid the rebels.
"We believe that if we could access and use blocked government of Libya assets it could make a significant amount of money available to alleviate the suffering of the Libyan people," Carney said.

A quick question for any geeky readers
Say you got a new laptop and didn't copy the factory image like you would if you were smart, and you kept getting the same maleware that Norton only catches when one of the hard drives is working too much.
So, I unplug the 'net and start scanning things with Norton and have to finish with Malwarebytes to get the automatic scanning started on Norton again.
The question, now that I'm putting it back to factory out-of-the-box condition, what would be better for a restore platform? DVD or thumb drive?
(Odd, Fire Fox doesn't recognize maleware as a word--or malware either)

All seven gas turbine engines and generators had multiple problems that precluded their operation. The SPY-1 radar was unable to operate at minimum power and the Aegis weapon system couldn’t provide a “recommend fire” alert in simulation mode, preventing Standard Missile-2 launches. The forward deck gun was inoperable due to a faulty firing pin. Connectivity issues hampered data links, email, radio circuits, naval messages, instant messaging — even Tomahawk mission planning.
How odd- I wonder why it showed up all of a sudden?

So, which union brotherhood do we have to thank for that?

Actually, I sent it to my state rep. in the Lege. and if you know any Texas gun owners you should send them over to The weapons blog for more info on how to get involved on uging them to approve open carry.
Here is my letter. He's a Dem, but not one of those rabid Marxist ones you'd have from Houston or Austin.
Dear Representative King,
I am sure you are aware that HB 2756 (allowing a CHL holder to openly carry a holstered weapon) is set to come up for vote on the House Floor soon.
As you may, or may not realize- if a CHL holder inadvertently allows any part of their pistol to be seen in public- they are subject to arrest and imprisonment.
With the passage of Open Carry, we will have less law abiding citizens arrested for a fluke of circumstance.
Also you may hear the old refrain about turning Texas "Back to the wild west" with shoot-outs on every corner and blood in the street. Perhaps that would be for the better, because in all actuality- the old west had less per-capita gun violence than most large cities in modern America.

And I can't opt out of hearing about some kid running away getting abducted in Maine where I have absolutely no contacts and could really give a chit less.I'm going to hear my phone going off at three in the morning to find that there was a tornado hitting somewhere in Oklahoma (again, and again). Because it's some kind of national emergency that I have to see the White House sending "URGENT" messages about why 0bama needs to stay in office, and to call your congressman NOW to keep healthcare?!
I bet they don't give warnings when Mr. Common Man snarls traffic for hours to get his motorcade to his fundraisers.
Or to find out that an unknown hurricane just snuck up on the borough of Queens.
So- who is going to be paying for these intrusive and unwanted campaign messages from the Community Organizer in Chief? I have a prepaid plan, do I get to charge the .GOV for those wasted minutes?

Progress
Pissed has a post up that will (or might make you wish that you could) remenber back when common sense ruled instead of the statist zero tolerance policy that has gradually suffocated our way of life.
I remember those days where a cop would tell you to knock-it-off, or go home instead of ruining your life by hauling you off to jail for being a stupid teenager.
Which reminded me of this- which will never happen again. because cops aren't cops anymore, they're the storm-trooper inactive reserves.

How could I have been so mistaken?

You see, ever since that mistake we made by trying too help Somalia-I was under the impression that the proper way to dispose of your foes body was to drag it naked through the streets while mutilating it prior to burning it.
