We got rained out Friday, so I was looking at about six hours short for the week. Then I got a call to haul a trailer full of wire out to one of our N.E.I.S.D. expansion projects for today. I was told to work as long as they needed you.
Cool, I can get my time in and maybe a little more.
I worked from 6:30AM to 8:30PM for five hours OT and am going in tomorrow to help them finish the pulls. I'll let them do the many hours of terminations so they can get power back on for back to school Tuesday.

That was certainly unexpected
(Alternative title: Rewarding failure...again)
I see that the Light Bringer has won the Nobel Peace prize for the things He's promised to do, but can't.
Our Unicorn rider is going to try to (again) bring peace to the mid-east (and fail).
But He looks good reading a teleprompter.
Then He'll start on worldwide nuclear disarmament- starting with us, the U.S. as an example od how 'we can all get along' without the need of nuclear defense.
Then He'll make a fine speech off his teleprompter.
Then He's promised to...lets see...
Show the world that he shares their view...Yeah, lots of moslems hate America too.
Let the U.N. have free reign on imposing their will on our wallets and freedom.
He'll give a stern speech to Iran about their nuclear program, and even threaten them with a meaningless threat.
AND best of all will collect a cool $1.4 mil that his buddy Tim Geitner will forgive on his income taxes.

Something's missing
In all I hear from both sides of the aisle in this new .gov health care takeover.
See the Dems are always saying that health care is unaffordable because of all 'those insurance groups' that charge too much and 'the Doctors who do unnecessary testing' are driving up the cost.
Ok, now- does anyone know since about the 80's and HMOs...how much the .gov has mandated for BOTH Drs. and Insurance companies? Me neither, but I bet it's a chitload of regulations.
I also note that since BOTH sides of the aile is filled with lawyers- not much has been said about the major cause of the jump in health insurance. And it won't be addressed until we get rid of someone who made millions of Dollars by making an extremely tenuous connection between care and the resulting lawsuit-worthy claim of malpractice.
Sometimes just channeling a child is worth the price of a private island on an east coast barrier island.
But remember, they care more for you than the evil conservatives do,,, with their pay for positive results.

Seven days left
Until I can get out fro under this WildBlue/DISHinternet.
We're at 68% download now and have been all afternoon,,,AND it's the slowest it's been since we've been on the WildBlue 'timeout' for excess usage.
Unless you reboot the page and see the 74% download or refresh again and see the 85% downoad that WildBlue's computer is still using.
If anyone sees this post looking for sateelite internet, do yourself a favor and look for wireless DSL. It's rasdio that gives you unlimited downloads and faster speeds than WildBlue.
Gawd, I wish I'd have known about radio internet four year ago, we'd have saved over two thousand dollars and lots of aggrivation.

Almost there
74% and dropping. Sometime tomorrow we'll be below 70%, and WildBlue will let us off our 'time out' slowage.
AND a week after, we get real broadband wireless at 2MG downloads and limitless usage.
Yay us!
I wonder if they supply radio TV cable? Kinda retro isn't it? to use a radio wave to send HDTV to an antenna that converts it into cable for the TV box.
I'll be able to upload pics soon and can update on my projects.
HY, how about those Libs screaming about McChrystal speaking at a London security meeting about the war on terror? You'd think the way they cheered the NYT for dumping our secrets that it was OK- or sumpum....Oh, yeah- that was when BusHitlerMcHalibrnton was in charge.
I mean they're dumping on him for giving that speach in London (England, 2,000 miles east of D.C.)while his betters were discussing the Afghan conflict among themselves.
I mean, it's not like he had anything more important to do, is it? Like talk to decision makers in DeCee......

The ADD electrician
After buying the new (wood) router, I decided to make a decent table for it.
I made the frame and used the discount roto-tool (spiral saw/laminate trimmer) to make a base plate cut-out on the underside of the table.
As I was cutting, I saw smoke from the other side as the bit worked it's way loose and went through the entire board.
As I retightened the collet so as to finish the base plate, I now needed to fix a curved hole. I mixed a bunch of sawdust with wood glue to make filler.
While waiting for it to dry, I decided to hook the switch for the router outlet- BUT in order to do that, I needed to run a little more wire to that part of the shop.
I ended up rewiring almost the entire shop. I put all the lights on one phase and most of the outlets on the other. I figures that with the hardwired electric fence (that I added a switch to) and the lights, it would sort of balance the load with the power tools on the other one.
I now have the shop lights connected to one switch, the router table top fixed and the router fence (at a perfect 90 degree angle) supports glued up.
Tomorrow I need to finish routing grooves for the fence adjustment bolts, install the router to the table and finish mowing the yard.
OH,,, I'm at 84% of downloads now and am getting 'Rock Solid Internet' wireless ISP Tues the 13th with no contract or download limits for $30/mo.

Five days now
And my monthly average has only dropped 10% points.
All I have online is the XP presario laptop for about two to three hours a day.The rest of the time the modom is unplugged.
Which tells me that either the two bits of malware(one spyware and one trojan on Thing Two's computer [that the anti-virus hadn't been run in 6 months]) were going gangbusters on talking to the mother ship.---OR did WildBlue stop taking off the back end of out average, and now were just loading up the bathwater waiting for the overflow?
My upload is still at 25%, and it is usually in the low teens.
In other forms of broadband we have radio internet (wireless DSL) or cell technology.
Being as we're in a hole in the coverage area, we'll have to see which of the two radio ISPs get our buisiness.
It's cheaper than satellite andsupposed to be unlimited usage.
I'm just wondering how secure it is?
What I'm also wondering is... did Dick and Kelly try the deep fried butter at the Texas state fair, and if so...why?

My intratubes are clogged
We had some unresolvable issues with the big computer (which is 2 yars old, running VISTA) and ended up going the factory restore rout.
Given that we're on DISHinternet (a sub of WildBlue) and since Thing Two moved back and we'd been running at over 85% of our allowable download alotment, when we updated all the old microsoft cr@p we went to 98% of Fair Access Policy. That's where it stayed for a week. When I downloaded FireFox 1.5 and the updates- it put us over.
Now we're in the FAP penaltypase of the thing. Until we can get below 70%, we're looking at slow dial-up speeds.
Someone is not going to be happy when I take the power supply to the modom to work ith me for several days, but I warned her that I'm *NOT* paying $75 a month for dial-up speed.
In other developments, it only took about 10 hours total to pull my entire dash, replace the heater core and put hings back together. Everything works, but I had to remove the protective layer of dust on the top of the dash.
Now I have to finish mowing the weeds and work on the router table.
Guess I'll have plenty of time for that since the intrawebz will be off for a while, unless Thing Two wants to buy her some 26K dial-up.

Julie Cooper
That was the name, along with Barb Cooper that alot of guys my age took a TV interest in.
You may know them better as Mackenzie Phillips and Valerie Bertinelli.
When I was a young insecure shy teen, I always thought about Mackenzie as the perfect date.
You know really easy.
I guess it wasn't just an act either, she really was a tramp- just like every teen guy wants in a girlfriend.

All in the interest of science
I would accept a grant from the .gov to further look into this study.
I'm sure I could develop some realtime, practical tests to prove or disprove the findings. I'd also be able to devise test parameters and distribute the results via the intertubes.
If any females are interested in becoming part of this very scientific experiment, feel free to call 1-800-whoopee.
Thank you Dr. Kurt

Hai...we're off to a funeral
Ok, it wasn't really a funeral, just some right wing ceromony to put some white Army guy in the ground.
But I got to show my pet news media my cutting-edge fashion statement for the day.
WHAT??!!!!????
You have a problem with it?
Look you Honkey Caspar looking racist, it's a black thing with the loud colors and all.

FireFox 3,5 ...part 2
For all of you who love F/F 's higher end versions.
Don't you get tired of removing all these tracking cookies:
Atdt
doubleclick
adstats
statcounter
Esomneture (with all the different numbers)
etc...
EVERY time you run your AdAware?
You *do* scan for tracking cookies, don't you?
I got so tired of seeing my downloads and uploads (and inverse speed) continually rising (since rebooting my hard drive and installing F/F 3.5 and Norton) that I downloaded F/F 1.5 and finally am seeing it start to drop.
Next is dropping Symantec for F-Secure or Avast anti-virus.

The right tool for the job
As you know, I've been making furniture with old pallets reclaimed oak boards.
Since it's not really furniture quality, I've been getting along with a decent combo blade on the table saw and living with the so-so cuts.
More than half the time I was burning through thicker boards.
After hitting a good sized nail and dulling it almost past use, I went to one of the home stores and while looking at blade prices, decided to get a crosscut blade and a rip blade for about the same price as a good combo blade.
The difference is amazing. I forgot how smoothly and easily an aged oak board can be ripped with no tripped breakers or billowing smoke.
Cool.
Now to rebuild my router table since dads router took a dump and I want to make it a multi-function tool.
And...speaking of tools, how about the way this administration is treating Honduras compared to His welcoming the worlds dictators to the U.N. today?

How things change
I was reminded about 'back in the day' from a post over at the Jawa Report.
About just what kind of over regulated woosies we've become.
It wasn't 20 years ago where Moe and Joe would have gotten a slap on the wrist and be told to pay damages- and DON'T do it again.
Today they'd be in prison.

Thinking about this today
Obama made the announcement that he was going to cancel the Bush missile defence programs that both Poland and the Checzk Republic went far out on a limb for.
***Fish heads. Fish heads. Roley poly fish heads***
He announced that on the 70th anniversary of Russia's invasion of Poland.
Think it was a coincidence? Me neither.
Anyway, instead of some stogy Republican missile defence system, the Obama administration and their Liberal staffers are going to make it more mobile and able to defend against more types of missiles.
Just like Hillary says...
"We will deploy missile defense sooner than the previous program," she said. "We will be able to swiftly counter the threat posed by Iran's short- and medium-range ballistic missiles."
Clinton disputed critics who say that President Barack Obama's new approach will leave Europe less protection from a missile attack.
"It does what missile defense is actually supposed to do," she said. "It defends America and our allies."
She added that criticism of the Obama plan is "not yet connected to the facts. We are not, quote, `shelving' missile defense. We are deploying missile defense sooner than the Bush administration planned to do so."
Sooner?
More manouverable?
***Fish heads. Fish heads. Roley poly fish heads*** GET! OUT!
Cheaper?
How?
Ohhhhhh........

For the many of you who don't know him, he's the lead morning guy on WOAI-AM 1200.
He's got a poll up on the worst ever music videos on his page.
It was either him, or Stan Kelly who when THIS SONG was mentioned, began to sing the refrain, and I've had it as an earworm all. day. long.
I worked almost 12 hours today, too.

Dear Dhimmi Carter,
After hearing about your last interview on the Unicorn Riders popularity problems,,,,
“I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he’s African-American,” Carter told NBC News. “I live in the South, and I’ve seen the South come a long way, and I’ve seen the rest of the country that shares the South’s attitude toward minority groups at that time, particularly African-Americans.”
“That racism inclination still exists, and I think it’s bubbled up to the surface because of belief among many white people — not just in the South but around the country — that African-Americans are not qualified to lead this great country. It’s an abominable circumstance, and it grieves me and concerns me very deeply.”
Just a thought here, maybe you need to find another group of friends.
The people you're surrounding yourself with don't really seem that open to new ideas.
BTW, does Sen. Byrd still have his Kleagle robes in the closet somewhere?
Really Dhimmy, you need to meet new people. There were some 2 million new people that AREN'T racist Democrats in DeeCee last weekend.
Sincerly,
Kurt

Has it occured to anyone
In spite of, or because of the misdirection in the healthcare debate...
That it doesn't really matter *what* is included now- because they have all the time in the world to put whatever they want in there....later.
Without all the noise and protests?
Everything they gave up,,,,for now, will be voted in in an addendum to a n unrelated bill,,,,,,,kinda like the pork they routinely ad to any bill that passes their desk.

FireFox 3.5
Don't like it.
When I backed up everything in the Win/HP backup section, everything was supposed to be saved,,,pics, FF1.5, bookmarks, documents....
After I restored to factory settings and used the backup discs.
I. couldn't. open. anything.
I'm (Karen is actually) slowly going through all that was downloaded and clicking each folder and giving herself admin privileges to open them.
I'll be degrading to F/F 1.5.5 again so *I* have control over my browser AND can ban sites and cookies that want to drop spyware on me.
I can't access about half my blogroll between FF 3.5 and being slowed because we've downloaded too much in getting this computer back to a semblance of it's old self.
Now Wildblue is starting to throttle down my access speed to not much faster than dial-up. Dicks place is like he shut it down again, from the access denied pages I get.

Enough changieness already
Every time I open my Yahoo! home page, it seems like they added another 'enhancement'.
I quit using their image search about two months ago because of the added layers of change.
Now anywhere I run my curser over opens these annoying widgit f*ing thingies all over my screen.
I'd make dogpile my home page, but they just have a search engin, and not news and weather.
I'm not making google my default home, because they have too much of my internet stuff caxched already- waiting until it's worth their while to accidently let it out in public.

The ACORN doesn't fall far from the tree
The latest news about the people our Peoples Organizer in Chef has surrounded himself with keeps getting better.
First we had the two videos of them knowing exactly what to do for our 'urban professionals' wanting advice in importing underage sex slaves and avoiding taxes.
Like I mentioned in a comment at the Cajuns place- It's like they've done it before, and more than once.
Another bit of new news is that even Rahm Emmanuel had to distance his newly politicized Census politburo from ACORNS participation incooking the numbers providing an accurate count of Americans. Of course there are many, many branches of ACORN under many different names, which I'm sure are on someones speed dial right now.
AND lastly, speaking of self-serving politicians.
I caught this new site in passing at Jay G's that want this next election to clean House. I'm for it- the only pol up in D.C. I'd even think about sending back is maybe John Cornyn.

Making supper tonight
I preheated the oven to 400*.
Opened the Digiorno pizza box,,,,and on the plastic 'goodie protection' film was this sticker:
Look for personal size pizzas soon.'
Whoever you are in the NYC marketing division- I'm 6'2", weight around 270 and work all day in a demanding physical environment- sometimes going without lunch.
THIS is my personal size pizza, TYVM.....
With salt, red pepper flakes and parmisan cheese.

Oh, Look!
Someone got into a wreck on I-35 south.
Lets slow down to a crawl so we can get a better look...And slow down the northbound traffic for five miles behind us.
In further news form San Antonio, it's rained now for about three days.
There are people who either think that wet stuff is oil and slow down by 30MPH wherever they are. OR the others who want to drive really fast so as to get out of traffic sooner and be safe sooner.
I don't care which one you are, just don't involve me in your wreck- Mky?

It doesn't matter what he says tonight
He won't be able to bring all sides together.
The only way he could possibly make his big nationalized healthcare talk of any interest to me at all would be two phrases.
Two phrases that will *never* leave his mouth.
^Tort reform^ and ^less gov't interference^.
I guess in a roundabout way, when the .gov takes over all those incompitant DR.s in the military and VA clinics can treat the general population without worrying about malpractice insurance- since you can only sue the .gov when IT lets you.
Not that it matters what is in or isn't in the bill, it's the bill it's self that is the wedge for nationalized healthcare down the line.
Like HIMSELF said in one of his pre-Presidential campaign* talks 'it might take 20- 25 years, but we'll see government run healthcare.'
* As opposed to his post-Presidential campaign sloganeering.

Labor Day
A three day weekend.
Actually it would have been an almost four day weekend if the service guys had their chit together and I wouldn't have had to wait almost three hours for parts.
I could get used to this easily.
All I have to do is get some help some prototypes into actual products.
HEY!
Is it my server, or is anyone else having to wait a looong time for YouTube to load?

In the middle of the night
In the middle of a three day weekend.
Another member of our Neophytes pool of aquaintences has been tossed under the wheels.
VanWilder Jones has succomed to the Right Wing Hate Machine.
On the eve of historic fights for health care and clean energy, opponents of reform have mounted a vicious smear campaign against me," Jones said in his resignation statement. "They are using lies and distortions to distract and divide."
Howard Dean, former head of the Democratic National Committee, told "Fox News Sunday" that he thought Jones "was brought down" and that his resignation was "a loss to the country."
Kinda like Robert Bork?
Oops, no...because you said and did everything they called you on.

President Urkles Tuesday speach
I have to admit that I'm kinda surprised at the silence of the ACLU and their notorious clinging to the nonexistent 'separation of church and state' clause in the Constitution.
Remember how they got anything close to religion banned from schools and public property?
Why are they so silent about having the Messiah speak to the kids in school?

So there I was
Sitting on the couch watching 'Wild West Tech'.
I had both feet on the big one, one foot mashing his head and the other on his chest.
My left hand was mauling the black ones neck as she was sprawled on the couch, and the spaztard was in my lap, nibbling my neck.
When she asked "Are you just going to sit on that couch all day?"
I mean,,,,km'on,- I'm busy here.

Kicking it old school
That was the end of my job yesterdy.
I came in to string some temporary service for the service dept.
Being as they're not into overhead power, they didn't know what I was asking for.
I wanted triplex hangers (to replace truck stock) and a six inch band/collar to secure an insulator clevis to a light pole.
They got the hangers and kearney's fine, but the electric supplier didn't have an "insulator support band" that big.
I waited two hours to find that out. When they finally got back, I told them to go to Home depot and get a band for a fence gate pole...6 inches diameter.
They couldn't figure out why I'd want to use something like that for #4 triplex. So we settled for them getting plumbers steel tape.
I used that splice because it looks a hellofa lot better than the latest thing..two triplex hangers and three Polaris joints looking like a birds nest up there.
