Choices
I'm at a bit of a fork in the road.
I have two job offers, one for a trucking company and the other a flagpole company.
I'm not getting any younger and the thought of sitting in a nice dry cab in crappy weather (with A/C in the summer) is a definite draw. The idea of not getting rained out helps, too. The drawbacks are that I'd be delivering corn syrup to bottling plants and bakeries inside San Antonio, and they don't offer health insurance. The pay is acceptable, but not huge-I can live on $500- $600 a week. This job will also be moving to Hondo in Aug. which makes it even more attractive.
The flagpole job offers better pay and benefits and not that hard of work- drilling holes and setting poles. I'd be out in the weather and getting rained out. That's not usually a problem in S. Texas, although there are times when we have a front stalled on top of us for days at a time. The pay could make it worth my while, and as it's an expanding company the ability to advance into A/C is inviting.
The trucking job I can start tomorrow because he really needs drivers, but the flagpole job is weeks in the future. The older I get, the more these decisions matter in the future. I dunno, guess I'll just flip a coin- either way I'll be second guessing myself.

Well, I guess I oughtta say something
This is a blog, and blogs are supposed to have enties on a semi-regular basis.
I was thinking of saying something about the tearfull farewell to Katie Couric on some Legacy media TV station or other. Why are they celibrating her last day there? She's going to a rival network to try to bury you.
But, I couldn't get worked up about it.
I was going to say something about St. Hillary befriending the maid.
Yawn.
Illegal immigrants?
Not today.
Sorry, I'm just burnt-out, and unemployed.
I've got a choice of 2 jobs starting in about two weeks, but I'm still waiting for my last two (going on three) paychecks. I took off for a job interview this afternoon, and told her I wouldn't be in tomorrow because of another one. Well, she decided that I wasn't properly thankful to be working for nothing and decided that they'd be able to carry on with the ONE remaining employee without my help -Thankyouverymuch. Guess this is another company that'll be using Mexicans for work Americans won't do. Tthe boss can rant and rave and she can play games with hours and "readjust" their pay,,, and they'll tell their kinfolkto come-on up!
I'm just glad I had the house and truck paid a month ahead, maybe we'll be able to keep above water untill I get the next big checks. I applied for uneployment today, but I'll probably be working when it kicks in- nice huh?
Anyway, I'll be able to work on some pistol display holders.
The bandsaw should be here any time and I can mill out some genUine Texas Mesquite and Live Oak wood for them.

That's odd
I thought that Daryl Hannah was supposed to be a conservative?
But here she is treesitting with a bunch of rich Hollywood libs to save a privatly owned property from it's rightful owner.
The land originally was owned by developer Ralph Horowitz but the city seized it in the 1980s, forcing him to sell it in order to build a trash-to-energy incinerator. When the project fizzled, the land was turned over to a food bank and people began gardening there after the 1992 Los Angeles riot.
Horowitz sued to get the site back and the city settled in 2003 by selling it to him for $5 million, leading to court battles. Eventually, he agreed to sell 10 of the 14 acres to The Trust for Public Land for $16.35 million but the group fell $10 million short and the option expired Monday.
Yep, that's Eminent domain- he had to sue to get it back.
Lets see if I've got this right.
A developer gets his property taken away, and has to fight to ge it back---in L.A.
It's 10 of 14 acres in a coomercial/industrial area, and he can get $16 million for it--in L.A.
Illegal Mexicans have been farming it since the Rodney King riots of 1992.
Are you with me so far?
"The inner-city site is "a place of safety and respite from the harshness of the concrete jungle ... we just have to save it," actress Darryl Hannah said Thursday from the branches of an old walnut tree where she perched for the day despite her vertigo.
Below her, supporters had created a tent city in the midst of the flowers, bananas, edible cactus, sunflowers and other produce that is farmed by about 350 mainly poor, Hispanic families.
Hannah said she had created an "emergency episode" of her weekly podcast and urged people to support the garden, a green swath in an industrial area southeast of downtown.
The actress is among celebrities supporting the farmers. Folk singer Joan Baez sat in the tree Wednesday and musician Ben Harper and his wife, actress Laura Dern, gave speeches.

A call to Horowitz went unanswered Thursday. But in recent interviews with the Los Angeles Times, he said he has been unfairly portrayed as a villain for wanting to sell the land for development.
Hill and Hannah said garden supporters were hoping the city or some benefactor would come up with the $10 million and the developer would sell, or that people would raise it dollar by dollar through small contributions. Hill also called on Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to help the farmers.
The Mayor of L.A. wants him to slash the selling price.
So, it's ok for these rich actors and singers to make on the plus side of $16 million for 3 months work,
but the evil land developer has to slash his asking price.
I know that those four millionairs couldgive have given the buyers a good hand- IF they wanted to put their money where their mouths were. Jeez, we're only talking $10 mil, what about the rest of the celebs that were mentioned? Couldn't they be persuaded to give to the cause?
Typical Liberal hypocracy demanding others to sacrifice in order to make themselves feel superior.

We had ribs last night
The reason I mention that, is the fact that the dogs got the bones.
All of them- and they ate them all.
They aren't used to having that much rich food. I found that out about 3 AM when I had to let them out because they were scratching- urgently.
I found out when I got up at 5:30 just how badly they had to go. I almost stepped in it last night by the door and didn't know it. We're now out of paper towels and I know from experience that toilet paper doesn't hold up well when used on carpet. I have barracades set up and Karen will do the final clean up when she gets up.
I'll be at work. May as well, not that I'll see any money from it for a while but the sooner the subdivision is done-the sooner the payoff.
And in a Memorial Day tribut to the Pigboat sailors, an ex-SeaBee (and bubblehead)gives his tribute to the service. I do believe that Cookie will find a place in my blogroll.

I think this just goes to show how,,, "tetched" they are down south
in Venezuela- the Chaves sycophants that is

According to Newsmax, there is a video game out,,,,ummmm

Chavez supporters in Venezuela's National Assembly suspect the makers of "Mercenaries 2: World in Flames" are doing Washington's bidding by drumming up support among Americans for an eventual move to overthrow Chavez.
"I think the U.S. government knows how to prepare campaigns of psychological terror so they can make things happen later," Congressman Ismael Garcia said, citing the video game developed by Los Angeles-based Pandemic Studios.
Yep, and we all know just how well the Republicans are at getting thesocialists leftist Mainstream Media to shut-up and follow the script in regard to national security, don't we?

Ok, tell me why I'm doing this today?
I'm leaving for Pleasonton at 6 AM to pick up some sealing oil in the oil truck, so I can be there when it opens at 7 AM.
I have no idea when (or if) I'll be getting paid, they cut my wages $2, and are putting everyone's time sheet under the microscope to disallow everything they can.
Also, the boss wants us to work Memorial Day.
Because I haven't got another job, yet.

It occurred to me after the Senatorial cave-in
that the only ones up in D.C. who give a rats @ss about what's good for the country is the lower house of Congress. They'll be facing Bush, the Senate and the Legacy media in standing firm against rewarding lawbreaking activity.
Maybe it would be a good idea to write your Representative and either give them moral support or a reminder that they're only their because of your vote.

Here's even more proof that the Senate needs a reality check this November
The House is alot more in tune with the majority of Americans than those special interest leeches in the Senate.
In case you didn't know- amid the B.S. that got all the attention in D.C. yesterday, the House passed (again) a bill to allow drilling in ANWAR. The Senate will most likely reject it--again.
I wonder if the oil prices will drop as fast as they rise whenever the mid-east has a hiccough?
Somehow I doubt it.

En los intereses de los electrones del ahorro, publicaré la lista de los senadores que no oyeron los intrests especiales así como la mayoría.

the thelanded aristocracy Senate held a vote today on just how much they want to reward lawbreaking. We all know that money talks; we now know who's listening to the deep pockets, rather than the best interests of the United States.
In the interests of saving electrons, I'll publish the list of Senators who didn't hear the special intrests as well as the majority.

I'm back
in case you noticed I was gone; and I see by my mailbox that I was well missed by each and every one of you.
My modem went south on me last Sun. during the storm, and after getting my trouble report stuck in their computer, I was scheduled to get fixed last Thurs.--except that the order came through too late to have the parts their then. I was then given Mon. as the appointment,,, no part, so now I'm finally online today.
(UPDATE May 24)
I forgot to mention that on top of the computer heading south, my current employer owes me about $16xx for two weeks that theydidn't have the money to cover checks. Gawd, what a week.
BUT Wildblue is looking for installers @$75 per and an average of 3 a day,,,kinda makes you think...
Sorry about griping, just a kinda crappy week. I did get a good start on the loafing shed cum woodshop, though.

Had enough? You notice I stopped halfway through the "D's". I know Mr. Bush and the rest of the creatures on the banks of the Potomac consider the pay these jobs give as chump-change, but they'd be paying alot better if LEGAL residents weren't being undercut by his mujados.
In case any of of you feel inclined to find out about these jobs, be advised that you'll need to be at least conversant with the Mexican language (wich is different from Tex-Mex) because they either are too stupid or to lazy to try to learn english.

Is anyone going to listen to Bush's speech tomorrow?
Just curious, I know he'll be bringing up the B.S. about "doing the jobs America won't", and how those same lawbreakers are somekind of "asset" to America. I guess if you look at it the way Bush does- how much money you can p*ss away on nothing, they do a good job.
I know he'll be lying about doing something about strengthening the border, and "getting tough" on enforcing the existing law, and the same tired cant about "tough new initiatives" and the rewarding of lawbreaking with citizenship.
Let me tell you something Mr. Bush, If they WANTED to be citizens, they would have done something about it. Need a visa application with a Mexican postmark? Do it the many times you went back. Call the Embassy? No, too much trouble- we'll wait until they GIVE us citizenship. Learn Anglis? Why, you NortAmericanos have bent over backwards to accommodate us Illegals.
We can get FREE medical care, FREE schooling- in our preferred language, without bothering to study, FREE or reduced housing, FREE meals at school, NO bother with Legal Taxes or SSI taken out of our paycheck.
We don't want to bother becoming citizens- unless you GIVE it to us like we DEMAND our imaginary "rights".
Ok, I won't be able to get away without knowing what was said tomorrow night, but I think I covered it all in my first two paragraphs.

An open letter to Sen. John Cornyn (RINO)
From the e-mail I just sent:
I see that in spite of what us in America think, you people in D.C.land aren't really concerned about doing much- if anything about Illegal immigration, since you don't think it's important enough to be on your list of "hot topics".
I just read a link to the Washington times (I didn't send it- they don't allow attatchments,,,just FYI) saying that you support rewarding illegal immigrants in some form. I'd like to remind you that the vast majority of the 290 million American citizens and LEGAL immigrants oppose rewarding those lawbreakers.
I wish you Republicans would start to remember where you came from, and becoming the party of "Liberal light" won't really help come election time. I don't want the Demopcrats in power, but I certanly hope that they give you a run for your money this November. Maybe then you might start taking an intrest in what the real America thinks- instead of your own little echo chamber along the Potomac.
Sincerely,
An Ex-Republican Conservative

Re-arranging the blogroll -again
I'm adding American, and proud of it to the roll. Some of the others I don't read that much- besides they're bigger bloggers and won't miss me not visiting.
Go check out Bushwack, he really looks like a guy I knew in the Seabees -could almost be his brother.
Also, Aaron has a message for his hackers from the religion of piss and tolerance.

The P-38
As you might remember, we did a little OT last week. I had to cut the top off a can to make a cover for something, which got me thinking about the other things called a P-38.
I had my P-38 (John Wayne) can opener on the keyring,. I also remembered the plane and the gun, but couldn't think of anything else.
So, what do you do when you want info? Ask a search engine for a p-38! Then you get about what I've listed.

Lets see how this flies
According to a second (or third) hand report from Jenni, the day without illegals resulted in a 4.2% sales reducton for the day. It also resulted in a
62.8% reduction in shoplifting.
Jens' a Lib guys------ mellow out on the link thing.
She'd have the link up if she could find it.

I think I'm starting to see a pattern here
We got sent home early because some people didn't show up when they were supposed to, so guess where I ended up?
Yes, it was a beautiful day to enhance the Ozone hole- and I helped!
Anyway, I wanted to find out how the .44 Navy was shooting (I know it's not a historically accurate pistol)so I just went to shooting and trying to adjust.
I found that both pistols like about 20 grains of Pyrodex, and the muzzle loader is about as quick to load as the revolver.
I guess the revolver just needed to be broken in to settle it's parts. Remember I said it was shooting high and to the left? I did.
Anyway, after about 48- 54 shots (I lost count loading) I'm seeing this pattern. . .
I'm aiming at the 6:30 position on the target- actually the target is about level with the top of the rear site, and the front sight is almost buried at the bottom of the VEE.
Looks like I might have two cylinders that are slightly off. Those shots started at 15YDS and ended up about 25 with about the same results. You always have a few strays with black powder, which is part of the challenge- I guess.

Yo! Dude.
Do you really know what that Chinese tat you have on your bicep says?
Like some relativly unknown blogger would say,
Heh.
And I was always asking those guys (and girls) "do you REALLY know what that says? How do you know it doesn't say "I do horney Sumo Wrestlers for fun" or "gayboy walking?"
The touchy-feely, quasi-spiritual trend of getting Asian-language tattoos became popular in the 1990s. For many youngsters, or for people who wanted to feel young, a tat with the characters for “peace” and “truth” seemed just the thing.
-snip-
But now that the fad-following hipsters of a decade and a half ago have graduated to jobs and families, they are going to tattoo-removal specialists in droves, trying to erase an embarrassing reminder of the mistake they made one drunken night so many years ago: They were permanently inked with an Asian-language word that didn’t say quite what they thought it did.
I guess now, some are starting to wonder just WHAT the tatoo they got really saysNew York City jewelry designer Jane Ko, 30, who is Chinese-American, has been approached countless times by sheepish and somewhat befuddled strangers and acquaintances who have asked her to translate tattoos that they once thought were Chinese characters for attractive concepts like “power” and “love” but now suspect might actually say “General Tso’s Chicken special” or “gullible white boy.

Anybody ready for some 'Ala carte' cable?
I heard some of this on Rush yesterday- when I was moving the truck. Supposedly the goverment- the ones doing so much to stem the flow of illegal immigration and increase the fuel supply- is going to do their best to "fix" the cable industry.
Ala carte is supposed to let you pick and choose what you can watch on TV,,,,,AND lower your rates by forcing cable providers to buy massive new prossesors to identify each house in their system and track their choices. I already have that- I ordered the tier of programs I wanted to watch, and get this ------DON'T watch the ones I don't want to. Every TV since ,,,ummm the 90's has had a V-chip, we have the girls' set which pretty well blocks the objectionable cr@p. Works real well on VH1 and MTV, sucks that they can't watch South Park without our help though.
So you people who "Don't want that filth comming into my house, even though I don't watch it", do you have a radio in your house? Do you mind the filthy, dehumanising, misgygonistic rap lyrics on the airwaves,, where your kids could run across them by changing the dial? Why aren't you demanding that the government do something about it? Same argument goes for the internet.
You're the responsible one (or supposed to be)- you're the one who's supposed to set the example- and enforce them. They make computer filters forporn objectionable material, they make a V-chip for TV turn them on.
And you could start acting like a parent and TRY to produce a productive, polite citizen- instead of some selfish lazy d*ckhead by letting the government raise your kid.

On the horizon, even MORE illegal rights protests
Yes, bouyed by their success in bringing America to her knees on the Communist workers holiday(May 1st), illegal rights activists are going at it again. I'm just wondering how far they think they can push befor the 290 million citizens and LEGAL immigrants finally get the attention of those in the land of D.C.
Now, they want to register 1 million new voters to show their streingth. I'm assuming these "new" voters won't be bothered to show their legal staus, either.
I'm in a hurry and haven't bothered to check but I'd wager that "New American Opportunity Campaign", "the Center for Community Change", "the New York Immigration Coalition" and "the National Capital Immigration Coalition" have pretty strong ties to socialist groups.
Keep going Vatos, you'll see something happening soon- just keep stirring the pot.

I'd always liked Penn and Teller
Now I like them even more because of THIS video.
*Caution NSFW if you work with a bunch of BDR subjects.

So Porter Goss walked out on the CIA, huh?
Can't say I blame him. Who *really* wants to work in a completely hostile work environment?
Hostile to you.
Hostile to your boss.
Hostile to the Idea that the duly elected head of state is calling the shots.
Hostile to anything that could advance America's ideals (unless it's somekind of Socialistic Liberal ideal).
Hostile to anything that could hinder their getting their Liberal fellow travellers back into power.
From what I'm reading, they'll wish they were a bit more accommodating to their old boss. Somebody needs to remind them that they work for the People of the United States and that their job is to promote the idea of a government that is accountable to the Constitution, and We, the people.

This Porkchop recipe looks GOOD. I found her by checking out my sitemeter. She will probably go into my blogroll, or another link section. I wonder if she knows about the Carnival of recipes?
As an update, the cult of the muHAMmadines are still in a DOS attack on Aaron, he's been fighting them off for the good part of a month now. Guess that's ok- since he is in AMERICA- and he is a Jew. Double bad, that- wot?

The things you find when linking
If you're not a gun-nut this probably won't intrest you.
BUT if you are, here is an interesting history of the dum dum round.
...Eventually the propellant was changed from black powder to the famous Cordite in 1891 or 1892 (references differ as to the exact date of changeover) by means of the “Mark 1 C” cartridge, “C” denoting Cordite smokeless nitro propellant. A few minor changes necessitated by the new propellant resulted in the “Mark II C” cartridge. The same 215 grain bullet now achieved a velocity of 1970 fps, and everyone seemed satisfied.
Everyone that is, aside from those who actually had cause to shoot anyone with this new round and rifle. Good accuracy, yes. Flat trajectory, no doubt about it. Amazing firepower too, from this new magazine fed repeater. This was just as well, as those hit by it frequently failed to acknowledge the fact, and regularly took multiple hits before actually ceasing in the attempt to rearrange one’s internal anatomy with various sharp and unpleasant edged ethnic implements. In the 1890’s the British Army was engaged in a number of operations in the Indian and Afghan theatre, and this lack of effectiveness of the new ammunition was a cause of major concern. The previous Martini-Henry rifle with its 480 grain soft lead bullet had been proven time and time again, but this new rifle just wasn’t up to snuff. When small British detachments found themselves outnumbered ten to one against fanatically courageous opponents who took and gave no quarter, the problem was a serious one. Wound ballistics was a poorly understood science in those days, but even 1970 fps was insufficient for such a smallbore, relatively heavy, round nosed projectile to be effective as a military round. Penetration was fantastic - even up to and including an elephant’s skull - but it was too good on human targets, and energy transmission was virtually nil. Sub - 2000 fps speeds were too low for effective hydrostatic shock and temporary cavitation, all of which the British trooper was finding out the hard way on the field of battle.
As most of this unpleasantness was going on in the Indian theatre, the problem was tackled in situ and was solved at a place whose name must rank as one of the most over-used, misquoted and poorly understood terms in the history of firearms in general and projectiles in particular. The place was Dum-Dum arsenal in India. It was here that the full metal jacketed .303 bullet was changed to one having a small amount of lead core exposed at the tip, creating in effect a soft-nosed bullet which would expand in flesh - as did the previously used Martini-Henry lead bullets - and thus greatly increase its effectiveness. Any hunter having observed the differing terminal effects of solid bullets as compared to soft noses on lighter, thin skinned game will readily appreciate the difference. The .303 and the .450 Martini- Henry rounds were almost identical in their actual muzzle energies, but now the .303 could more effectively deliver that energy to the target. The infamous Dum-Dum bullet was born, and real-life fighting showed it to be far more effective than the old Mark 2 bullet. Troops engaged in savage warfare, but still equipped with the older Mark 2 ammunition, would sometimes file down the tips of the nully jacketed bullets to make them like the “Dum-Dum” projectiles. In those days the Indian contingent of the British army had considerable autonomy in equipment and procurement of same, so while the Indian theatre was equipped with the soft nosed Dum-Dum bullet the same was never adopted by the rest of the British army. The same problem was appreciated, but dealt with in a different way by the adoption of a hollow-nosed bullet called the Mark 3, soon improved and widely manufactured as the Mark 4 in 1897, and the very similar Mark 5 of 1899.
Then we get into all these Liberal whiners about the "Geneva Convention" and the rest of the mis-information peddled by the msm........

Firefox has a pop-up blocker
So does IE, and I guess Macs-too.
When will they develope a pop-under blocker? You know when you discover a page that just appeared in your toolbar when opening a page. When you go to close it, you close the wrong one and end up seeing the ad anyway, AND have to go find where you were just at.
