Homeopathic medicine- The Lancet says it doesn't work!

Wow, what a surprise! Reuters (yeah, I know as truthful as cBS) says that according to the lancet, Placebos and homeopathic medicine have about the same cure rate. The always truthful Guardian also chimes in.

Who would have thought that diluting something until there was nothing left- except the "memory" wouldn't work as well as a full strength dose?

Let me get this straight. You take some medicine and "think" hard as you dilute it, and dilute it, and dilute it- until it's basically water with some kind of memory.
This water is supposed to have all the medicinal qualities you washed out of it.

If the water possesses a "memory" of what was in it, why doesn't it think it's whale poop?
I mean there was ALOT more whale poop weight-wise than the medicine you diluted until it was gone.
Ok, I'm watching Modern Marvels over here

It's about mega-engineering failures.

They were talking about the "environmental devastation" that oil spills(Exxon Valdez) causes, and It occurred to me; IF oil spills are some kind of permanent ecological ruin- what about all those tankers sunk in WWII?

I don't remember anyone stopping the war when the tankers were spewing tons of oil off our Atlantic of Gulf coast. Maybe there was a covert group of eco-commandos, but you'd think by now the secret would be out- don't you?
So, just what DID happen to all those unsanitized beaches? Why aren't they still polluted (if a massive Super-fund/beaches hadn't happened in the 70's)?
. . . And contrasting to the previous post

We have this report on former "Baby Killers".

But, like Ace said, "Just a story about a picnic, really."
This'll p*ss you 'Nam vets off

I was reading about some of the 'Friends of Cindy" at Mikes place and was reading about one of the great (non)happenings being put on by Code Pink.

When these Leftists started protesting BusHitler breathing, I said *shrug* at least they're leaving the troops alone. Not spitting on them and calling them Baby-killers, YET.

Now, it's come to my attention, and some other bloggers; that those retreaded tie(Thai)-died hippies are starting to target our wounded servicemembers. Yes, the tolerant caring Left is taking direct aim at the returning sodiers in Walter Reed.

Code Pink Women for Peace, one of the groups backing anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan's vigil outside President Bush's ranch in Crawford Texas, organizes the protests at Walter Reed as well.

Some conservative supporters of the war call the protests, which have been ignored by the establishment media, "shameless" and have taken to conducting counter-demonstrations at Walter Reed. "[The anti-war protesters] should not be demonstrating at a hospital. A hospital is not a suitable location for an anti-war demonstration," said Bill Floyd of the D.C. chapter of FreeRepublic.com, who stood across the street from the anti-war demonstrators on Aug. 19.

"I believe they are tormenting our wounded soldiers and they should just leave them alone," Floyd added.

-snip-

On Aug. 19, as the anti-war protesters chanted slogans such as "George Bush kills American soldiers," Cybercast News Service observed several wounded war veterans entering and departing the gates of Walter Reed, some with prosthetic limbs. Most of the demonstrations have been held on Friday evenings, a popular time for the family members of wounded soldiers to visit the hospital.

But the anti-war activists were unapologetic when asked whether they considered such signs as "Maimed for Lies" offensive to wounded war veterans and their families.

"I am more offended by the fact that many were maimed for life. I am more offended by the fact that they (wounded veterans) have been kept out of the news," said Kevin McCarron, a member of the anti-war group Veterans for Peace.

-snip-

"We went by there one day and I drove by and [the anti-war protesters] had a bunch of flag-draped coffins laid out on the sidewalk. That, I thought, was probably the most distasteful thing I had ever seen. Ever," Pannell, a member of the Army's First Cavalry Division, told Cybercast News Service.

"You know that 95 percent of the guys in the hospital bed lost guys whenever they got hurt and survivors' guilt is the worst thing you can deal with," Pannell said, adding that other veterans recovering from wounds at Walter Reed share his resentment for the anti-war protesters.

"We don't like them and we don't like the fact that they can hang their signs and stuff on the fence at Walter Reed," he said. "[The wounded veterans] are there to recuperate. Once they get out in the real world, then they can start seeing that stuff (anti-war protests). I mean Walter Reed is a sheltered environment and it needs to stay that way."

-And in response to the small pro-troop counter rally a spokes-flack had this to say-
But Luke and the other anti-war protesters dismissed the message of the counter demonstrators. "We know most of the George Bush supporters have never spent a day in uniform, have never been closer to a battlefield than seeing it through the television screen," Luke said

And if you already didn't realize which side Code Pink(o) was on:

Code Pink, the group organizing the anti-war demonstrations in front of the Walter Reed hospital, has a controversial leader and affiliations. As Cybercast News Service previously reported, Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin has expressed support for the Communist Viet Cong in Vietnam and the Nicaraguan Sandinistas.

In 2001, Benjamin was asked about anti-war protesters sympathizing with nations considered to be enemies of U.S. foreign policy, including the Viet Cong and the Sandinistas. "There's no one who will talk about how the other side is good," she reportedly told the San Francisco Chronicle.

I'm a SKOAL mayn di,di,di,do,do,do. . . Yes, a SKOAL mayn.

Sorry, couldn't help it when I saw this over at Jeff's place.

Yep, Gretchen Wilson is in trouble with the Nicotine Nazis. She has the termenity to talk nice about Skoal- in a SONG yet.

The TN A.G. is trying to shut her up, like it's BAD or something to have kids NOT hear something bad about tobacco.
If she was tossing a cucifix in Pee, it would be OK; or telling kids to off a cop and pimp out their sister for drugs- well, that's called artistic expression.
But DON"T try to talk about something from your own life, especially if you're a country singer.
I call Voter fraud on this!

I was over at TexasBestGrok and voted in his weekly monthly SciFi Babe pole.

The results are astounding
to say the least.

There is NO way that Dr. Weir can be hotter than Teyla- there must be voter intimidation, or, or, ummm VOTER DISENFRANCHISEMENT on part of the Dr. Wier party!

GO! FLOOD the poll. Show "them" that they can't get away with this.

Remember- vote early and vote often!
I want to extend my apologies to those on my blogroll

I have what's referred to as a working blogroll. If you're on it, I try to read you on a regular basis.
The problem is, is that I have limited time on the computer with the commute- and all. So I don't get to look at my blogroll every day, and I apologize.
Since most of my blogroll is the smaller blogs, it hurts you when I don't click to see what's going on over at your place.
I just wanted to let y'all know I'm not trying to slow your sitemeter down intentionally, it's just how things are.

Yes, I'm still here

Just wondering if I want to get into the "slave reparations" thing.

I was listening to the "Mayor of Commonsenseville" during the drive home tonight. He had a local ummm "spokesman" for the tenth anniversary of the 'Million Man March". I went to their site, but Mark doesn't have anything up (that I can find) about what happened today on his show.

Ya know, WOAI 1440AM you ARE a big radio station, I think you can afford the bandwidth to let each show give a synopis of what they did that day (or week)and that way if someone hears something interesting, they can get there from your site. WOW, think of the hits- instead of having to search Yahoo (I don't GOOGLE- not liberal enough).

Anyway he had this black guy on (don't remember the name- no links at the WOAI site) who was TRYING to give reasons for [GAWD yes] reparations.
I know this blog is amateurish, I am an ammature. I don't go out in public and act like I'm some kind of official spokesman. This Black guy- lets call him MR.X - seemed like he was pulling facts, history and statistics out of his rear end.
Mr. X didn't know his history; assuming the War of 1812 was the Spanish -American War.
He used alot of very large words which his education couldn't back up. I don't use unnecessary big words. I write like I talk, I don't try to make you think I'm smarter than I am, because I know you'll be able to see through the verbiage, and know I'm talking out my @ss. Too bad no-one ever told Mr. X that.

Mr. X went rattling on about how the Blacks are in the shape they're in today because their great, great, great, (great?) grandparents were slaves; and how a lump-sum-payment now would fix everything. He also mentioned the Jews getting payed (didn't say from who) and the Alaskans -He said the Indians(?) were payed for the troubles they had. UMMmmm Mr. X, they get payed from OIL REVENUES the state collects.

I had to turn the radio off to air out my truck- if you know what I mean.

When I turned it back on, Mr. X was on the tired old 40 times more blacks in prison than whites. Jeff asked him how the "reparations" would stop that. Mr. exess verbiage didn't have an answer except to stop "racial profiling( if I remember correctly), and went off on a tangent about --you got it--racial profiling.

Like I said, I'm not sure I want to get into the reparations thing- just the questions of who will pay (us of course) to who? ( all blacks? blacks who can prove their lineage? slaveholding blacks? I know a couple blacks who's kin were slaves in Jamaica- who pays for them?)
Why me? My kin was still in Germany during the Civil War.

As far as black society, there was a large (lower) middle class with a mom, dad and kids who went to church, school and work - all the way up to the "Great Society" when the Gov't took over for the family.
You want to know the root of the Black problem? Look at Prez. Johnson. Look at the role models you have today. Look at your attitude to bettering yourselves- it's NOT a white thing to get ahead-it's an AMERICAN thing.

Sorry, ran into another rant.

Another God joke

The inventor of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle, Arthur Davidson, died and went to heaven. At the gates, St. Peter told Arthur, "Since you've been such a good man and your motorcycles have changed the world, your reward is, you can hang out with anyone you want in Heaven."

Arthur thought about it for a minute and then said, "I want to hang out
with God." St. Peter took Arthur to the Throne Room and introduced him to God.

God recognized Arthur and commented, "Okay, so you were the one who
invented the Harley Davidson motorcycle?"

Arthur said, "Yep, that's me."

God said, "Well, what's the big deal in inventing something that's pretty
unstable, makes noise and pollution and can't run without a road?"

Arthur was apparently embarrassed, but finally he said, "Excuse me, but
aren't You the inventor of woman?"

God said, "Yes."

"Well," said Arthur, "professional to professional, you have some major
design flaws in your invention:

1. There's too much inconsistency in the front-end protrusions;
2. It chatters constantly at high speeds;
3. Most of the rear ends are too soft and wobble too much;
4. The intake is placed way too close to the exhaust;
5. And the maintenance costs are enormous!"

"Hmmmmm, you have some good points there," replied God, "hold on."

God went to His Celestial super computer, typed in a few words and waited
for the results. The computer printed out a slip of paper and God read it.

"Well, it may be true that my invention is flawed," God said to Arthur, “but according to these numbers, more men are riding my invention than yours."
Test, test, test

Check one

Check two

Check three

Is this thing working now?

We have an update to the Cartman posting of Monday, I tried to restore the computer back to Sunday, and got my old Firefox settings again. Sorry no gratuitous pics of Cartman here.
Which religion does this NOT sound like?

You have a religious leader making a stupid statement for no reason (I guess) except to say something.
He calls for something questionably moral, probably illegal, and definitely mortal to the receiver- He issues what some apologists would call a fatwa.
Then all the other religious leaders and some polititions step up to the plate and blast the man of religion.
The MSM goes into hysterics analyzing the whys and wherefores of the entire thing, and will go on labeling this man a fanatic, and warning about letting this kind of religion ;loose on the world.

If you said islam, you'd be wrong.

So, All I have to do is become a spammer and Bill Gates will make me rich?

This one is going around again:

Subject: PLEEEEEEASE READ!!!! it was on the news!

This thing is for real. Rest assured AOL and Intel will follow through with their promises for fear of facing a multimillion-dollar class action suit similar to the one filed by PepsiCo against General Electric not too long ago.

Dear Friends; Please do not take this for a junk letter. Bill Gates sharing his fortune . If you ignore this, You will repent later. Microsoft and AOL are now the largest Internet companies and in an effort to make sure that Internet Explorer remains the most widely used program, Microsoft and AOL are running an e-mail beta test.

When you forward this e-mail to friends, Microsoft can and will track it ( If you are a Microsoft Windows user) For a two weeks time period.

For every person that you forward this e! -mail to , Microsoft will pay you $245.00 For every person that you sent it to that forwards it on, Microsoft will pay you $243..00 and for every third person that receives it, You will be paid $241.00. Within two weeks, Microsoft will contact you for your address and then send you a check.

Regards. Charles S Bailey General Manager Field Operations

292-1085 Charles_Bailey@csx.com Charles_bailey@csx.com
Yep, and I'm SURE this guy has anything to do with it

I thought this was a scam myself, But two weeks after receiving this e-mail and forwarding it on. Microsoft contacted me for my address and within days, I receive a check for $24,800.00. You need to respond before the beta testing is over. If anyone can afford this, Bill gates is the man.

It's all marketing expense to him. Please forward this to as many people as possible. You are bound to get at least $10,000.00. We're not going to help them out with their e-mail beta test without getting a little something for our time. My bro ther's girlfriend got in on this a few months ago. When I went to visit him for the Baylor/UT game. She showed me her check. It was for the sum of $4,324.44 and was stamped "Paid in full"

Like I said before, I know the law, and this is for real.

Intel and AOL are now discussing a merger which would make them the largest Internet company and in an effort make sure t! hat AOL remains the most widely used program, Intel and AOL are running an e-mail beta test.

When you forward this e-mail to friends, Intel can and will track it( if you are a Microsoft Windows user)for a two week time period.

Try it; What have you got to lose

If only a quarter of these people in my header asked Charles S Bailey if it was real, it would result in a denial of sevice for days (in his e-mail-anyway)

It What?

Firefox fell on it's ass and we lost everything we had attached to it.

GOD DAMMIT!
Lets talk about the reason we're forced to pony up for free lunches

I was just looking at two articles about the growing controversy on childhood obesity.

basically it says "the kids are too fat, we need to do something."
Ok, lets see if I understand this. . .

First we were told 'the kids aren't learning because they can't afford "good" food , and that's why they are getting bad grades. SOoo "WE" need to buy them a good lunch.

Then it went something like "Oh, they don't get a good breakfast, THAT's why they are falling on their ass- gradewise."

NOW, we have TWO girls in H.S. and we have a pretty ummm 'average' income, and we are almost eligible for FREE school breakfast AND lunch.

Why, when this whole thing was starting didn't anyone ask (I'm sure they did- but it wasn't reported)
  1. During the Great Depression, when over 25% of Americans were unemployed and the rest under employed- or "undernourished" didn't the kids become as dense as they are now?
  2. During most of world history, and in alot of second and third world countries today, the kids go to school hungry- and they can still kick our @sses academically.
  3. What's wrong with a P.B. & J sammich? With a Ding Dong or Ho-Ho thrown in?
  4. What's wrong with a Meatloaf sandwich and an apple?
  5. Just why do you want the taxpayer to pay for what the parent is responsible for?
Ok, now we're supplying breakfast, lunch (and soon dinner) so the adults in the house don't even need to BOTHER in making sure the kid is fed, or diverting money from beer, drugs or their asininely loud car speakers.

The schools have spent so much on feeding kids that now we don't have just stupid kids, we have stoopid fat kids who think the world OWES them a living.
Exept for the ones who spend MORE on junkfood than a NON-EXEMPT school lunch would cost, and we're still providing them free food for the taking(and they still want a free meal).

Talk about a free lunch!

I haven't seen a whole lot on the Israeli withdrawal in my normal haunts

I don't know if it was the right decision. As I wrote in a comment to another blog (can't remember which) that mess is so effed-up that you need to be a full time puzzle master to decipher it.

The way I understand it is when Israel was created (in their ancient homeland-predating the Palos) the Palestinian people walked off. Then in the spirit of that vaunted muslem brotherhood of suicide terrorists- no arab offered an inch of settlement space in the vast wastelands of their deserts.

NOW Israel has (I dunno) gotten tired of cleaning up after animals and decided to leave the mess to them. That is supposed to make the palistinian terrorists happy, right? "Ohhh boy, we won, lets stop attacking Jews" . Right? Wrong.
These animals won't give up as long as there is one Jew still living. These are the terrorists that Cindy Sheehan wants to help. That the U.N. wants to give a seat to. That Hollywood and the Left support. That MSM make any excuse they can for the killing and maiming of innocent women and children.

I hope the displaced settlers did a scorched earth thing on that garden they made in the desert. Including hydraulic cement in the sewer pipes (not that the Palestinians would know about indoor plumbing), so that they leave what they came to.

What do you think those hyper sensitive religious fanatics will do with the abandoned synagogue and cemeteries? Treat them with the respect they demand from a book written by a bloodthirsty slavetrading pedophile? No, they'll probably use them for "personal hygienic" functions just like they used Jewish gravestones in Bethlehem for urinals.

The next time the "Religion of Peace" sends over a suicide terrorist, Israel ought to level the entire region.

And I'm only going to mention the two American ships running away by saying THAT's what causes those mohammedans to attack- just like dogs chasing a rabbit. "It's running away- lets go get IT!"

(Update Mon. Aug 8) Sorry sbout the disjointed rant.

That mideast crap usually doesn't upset me so much- I figure Let em kill each other off, they deserve what they've got. Exept for the Jews, ya know - the way they manipulate world events to get sympathy, look how they manipulated the Nazis into killing over 6 million of them, just so they could get their ancesteral land back. I mean geeze, THAT IS sneeky. Umm, right Cindy?
Is this idea kinda redundant, or is it me?

The background.
Mrs Trainwreck is a Brit. They don't have H.S. Diplomas, or certificates to verify that they passed through their education system. I was looking for info on getting her a G.E.D. so she could get a better job, etc, etc.

I finally got a G.E.D. info site from the T.E.A.(Tex Ed. Ass.) and in one of the links they offer "in school" G.E.D. programs. I thought that's what a H.S. Diploma was for. But I'm not a highly paid educator, either- I'm stupid enough to work 12 months out of the year as opposed to say, , , what? Eight?
Here's something you kids won't even remember

I got to thinking about the cup and a half of sugar I put into the banana bread yesterday, and the fact that I left it out. I figgured we'd have ants all over the counter.

I was wrong, we have either corn sugar or beet sugar- ants don't seem to be as attracted to that as they are to cane sugar, it's not as sticky either.
I guess that's a good thing, since "BIG SUGAR" has gotten us used to the erzats sugar with their protective tarrifs.

Does anyone remenber what cane sugar tastes like anymore?
Overseas Coke tastes alot better than it does here, the candy is sticky, too- and less expensive for both.

The Evolution of Math

Last week I purchased a burger at Burger King for $1.58. The counter girl took my $2 and I was digging for my change when I pulled 8 cents from my pocket and gave it to her. She stood there, holding the nickel and 3 pennies, while looking at the screen on her register. I sensed her discomfort and tried to tell her to just give me two quarters, but she hailed the manager for help. While he tried to explain the transaction to her, she stood there and cried. Why do I tell you this?

Because of the evolution in teaching math since the 1950's:

Teaching Math in 1950:
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the price. What is his profit?

Teaching Math in 1960:
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is 4/5 of the
price, or $80. What is his profit?

Teaching Math in 1970:
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80. Did he
make a profit?

Teaching Math in 1980:
A logger sells a truckload of lumber for $100. His cost of production is $80 and his profit is $20. Your assignment: Underline the number 20.

Teaching Math in 1990:
A logger cuts down a beautiful forest because he is selfish and inconsiderate and cares nothing for the habitat of animals or the preservation of our woodlands. He does this so he can make a profit of $20. What do you think of this way of making a living? Topic for class participation after answering the question: How did the birds and squirrels feel as the logger cut down their homes? (There are no wrong answers).

Teaching Math in 2005:
Un hachero vende una carretada de madera para $100. ! El costo de la produccion
I'll never be able to compete with Steve

Either in writing or cooking. BUT since we had some 'aging' bananas- and I was doing the brisket for dinner (or lunch, depending on where you're from), I decided to do something with them.

Ok, look for banana pudding, yep got most of the ingredients- crap, no pudding mix.

Lets try something else, , ,
Ahhh Banana bread!

Here's the recipe:
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 3 bananas, mashed
DIRECTIONS: 1. Grease and flour two 7x3 inch loaf pans. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). 2. In one bowl, whisk together flour, soda, salt, and sugar. Mix in slightly beaten eggs, melted butter, and mashed bananas. Stir in nuts if desired. Pour into prepared pans. 3. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 1 hour, or until a wooden toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

The brisket is done, the rub is almost crunchy-
Spanish rice
Baked BBQ beans

and in the oven, , , Banana Bread!

Sorry y'all no cookbooks on the horizon.

THANK Gawd I'm home!

This is the fifth night I've gotten home after 7:30PM. I'd asked my boss if I could work 4- 10's and he said yes. Cool, I can save 100 miles of driving one day a week.

Moday we found out the Big boss went to an auction, and we had to go collect his winnings- I got off work at 7PM (11.5 hours)
Tues-10 hours
Weds.-10
Thurs- (I'm tired)9.5
Today (Fri)- 11.5

So, lets see how my new employer is about paying overtime. Hell, I might even be able to break even on gas.
And to prove that the wheel keeps turning

JimmyB shows that being gay isn't just a "birth" thing- it IS a lifestyle choice.

Anyone hear about the Texas Marine who can't go to Austin Community College?

The way I was hearing it on the "over-hype talkradio station it goes like this. . .

AUSTIN (AP) - A decorated Marine enrolling in college was surprised to learn his Texas driver's license, car registration and bank records weren't enough to qualify him for the lower-priced state resident tuition.

Carl Basham said officials at Austin Community College recently told him that his two tours of duty in Iraq kept him out of the state too long to qualify for Texas resident tuition.

Ok, I said- it figgures it IS Austin. The ONLY Texas county that went for J. F'ing Kerry (he waz in 'Nam- ya know) so naturally they're giving him a hard time.

I heard this - or some variation of it most of the day:

The school's response surprised Basham, a 27-year-old who was born in Beeville, registered to vote in Travis County, has a Texas driver's license and does his banking in Austin.

Not having the in-state designation would mean paying around $2,600 instead of about $500 a semester in tuition.

"They told me that I have to physically live in the state of Texas for at least a year," Basham said in Tuesday editions of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "It kind of hurts."

During his two enlistments and eight years of service, Basham received a Combat Action Ribbon, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and other decorations. He was honorably discharged from the Marines on Jan. 31.

Then, on a different, more staid and less hyperactive news/talk radio station I heard this little gem:

Under Texas law, members of the military are presumed to maintain the same residence as when they enlisted in the service. Although he grew up throughout Texas and lived most of his youth in Waco, Basham graduated from high school and enlisted in the Marine Corps in Monroe, La. (This is from WOAI, since KTSA didn't have the story easily available)

I don't feel sorry for him. Yeah, he kinda got screwed; but he fell down, too- or his N.C.O.s who didn't tell him to change his home of record at his second enlistment.

I made sure when I re-enlisted that my home of record was in Texas- not just for the education, but the Tx Vets Land Board and anything else available to Texans.

Alot of other vets have been burned that way. How far are we going to go back to rectify the "home of record" mistakes? Get over it, and have the next Leg. do something about it.
Hey- the Navy wanted me to be a 'Nuke'- can I study for it NOW on the Gov't dime?

(UPDATE Aug. 20)- It seems that the Tx Vets Landboard has approved the admission as a Tx resident. Ok, now that one GI went public, when are ALL the others who got screwed over going to get (the Libs favorite word) restitution for the "wrongs" done to them?
Yep, it figgures. I wanted to let our renters buy the trailer

But, I just found out that I put them off too long, and they bought something else.

Ok, anybody know anybody who might be interested in a 3bed/2bath Mobile Home on about 3/4 acre about 2 MI. east of San Marcos?
It's in the Lockhart school district, so you won't be able to get your kids involved in the gang crap in S.M.- sorry.

It really is a serious idea, but, , ,

It sounds so , , , ummm, , , humorous.

Stolen from Aelfheld.
Ok, lets see about gas mileage

I'll try to type slowly so that the ones that NEED to read this can understand a little of it.

Ok, lets start with basic auto mechanics. That pedal below your right foot can be in any position besides "idle" and on the floor.

The faster you go from a standing start to 30MPH uses alot more gas than going from stopped to a moderate acceleration. If you go slow, you save gas, too. You REALLY ought to try this next time you're in a f'ing PARKING LOT.

Here's something else you might not know, if you take your foot out of the carburetor when you see you're gaining on a group of cars- the car will ACTUALLY slow down before you have to slam on your brakes inches from my back bumper. Just to let you know- people don't care how important you think you are- they WON'T scatter like quail when they see you overtaking them.
Not that I'd mind you running my D.O.T. bumper OVER yours and through your radiator and up your hood- I'm worried about my li'l pick-up.
If you work your right foot, letting the car slow down before you actually have to panic stop you can save gas AND brake pads.

Something else that helps save gas is rolling up your windows. You have a 2005 Neon, you HAVE air conditioning, you have to order it specifically without. If you roll up your windows you save what the experts call "wind drag" PLUS I won't have to hear your damn radio.

Ok, and just for kicks, try running your tires at or above the recommended pressure- or put the original size back on. Would you rather be "stylin" with those HotWheels looking tires, or getting 5MPH better per gallon?

Ok, done for now- I'll be glad for additional hints in the comments.
Here's something for you gunloving red staters

I found it in my mailbox, and don't know how true it is. I know that y'all will be glad to let me know.

Comming soon, Fuel economy measures for morons

I got in late last night, and the 14 yr-old needed things for school, so I didn't have time to post last night.

I know this post won't do much good, they'd rather get in front of a microphone and complain about the price of gas than actually CHANGING the way they drive; but it'll let me vent.

Till tonight. . .

More Trainwreck driving lessons

Ok, I know I've covered some of these before, but IF you listen, I won't need to do it again.

  • The speed limit sign is what it says, if there is a cop driving at 60 MPH in a 70 MPH zone,
you will NOT get a speeding ticked for passing him! There are ALOT of people with guilty consciences out there.
  • When merging onto a limited access highway, you should be going approximately the same speed as the traffic- NOT 15 MPH slower. Ya see, when I start up an onramp, I've got my eye on an opening I want to ease into- that doesn't work when there's a 15-20MPH speed difference.
  • Yield means 'Yield to oncoming traffic' not STOP.
  • The octagonal red and white stop sign WILL NOT turn green to let you know that you can go.
  • At a 4 way intersection with stop signs- the person who got there First has the right of way, if TWO or more people arrive at the same time, the one on the right has the right, or if the driver in a large commercial vehicle (me) motions you to go through- GO!
  • Those broken white lines in the road are called "lane markers" that means you are supposed to keep your $70,000 Escalade between them. Yes, I know you think you bought the entire road- but you didn't.
  • A BIG truck takes ALOT of room to stop. Do not swerve in front of one and do something completely stupid.
  • If you try to intimidate me with your little F-150; just remember, my front wheel lugs make a damn good body panel wrecking saw and my back tires are easy to replace after they climb right over your bed, and cab, and hood. All I'll be out is time as I tell Officer Friendly how you caused the wreck.

Ok, kids you can now go back to torturing the teacher.
Happy VJ Day Marines- you earned it

Nagasaki

President Truman decided to use atomic bombs against Japan to save American lives. His decision was supported by most of the men who would have had to risk death by invading the Japanese home islands. As Paul Fussell, a former U.S. Army infantryman in Europe said in "Thank God for the Atom Bomb"

"When the atom bombs were dropped and the news began to circulate that we would not be obligated in a few months to rush up the beaches near Tokyo assault-firing while being machine- gunned, mortared and shelled we broke down and cried with relief and joy. We were going to live. We were going to grow to adulthood after all. "

Japan surrendered on August 14, only eight days after Hiroshima and five days after Nagasaki. Formal surrender ceremonies took place September 2, 1945 on the USS Missouri, in Tokyo Bay.
