Remember remember the fifth of November

Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
Should ever be forgot...

Today is Guy Fawkes Day in England.
They used to celebrate his capture along with the 36 barrels of gunpowder he and his conspirators were going to use to blow up Parliament.

They still do, but they used to have great parties, kind of like our Independence Day.
They celebrated with fireworks and huge bonfires, also known as Bonfire night.

You notice I keep saying 'used to' because the nanny state has this year banned the celebratory fires because of 'safety concerns' BUT.... they suggest that a DVD movie o a bonfire shown on an outside wall would capture the wonderful feeling of solidarity, well being, warmth and noise.

England, it's painfull to watch your collapse into ....whatever you're turning into.
