It's basically another "show Big Oil who's boss" mail.
Except this time, whoever wrote it doesn't remember history very well. And NO, I don't think it was St. Barry himself.
Gas rationing in the 70's worked even though we grumbled about it. It might even have been good for us!
No, we didn't have rationing. We had price controlls and windfall prifits taxes on the oil producers that CREATED spot shortages and long lines. The only good thing it did for us was to kick the Big Three into modern QC and fuel economy.
Are you aware that the Saudis are boycotting American products?
Which ones?
Shouldn't we return the favor? Can't we take control of our own destiny and let these giant oil importers know who REALLY generates their profits, their livings? How about leaving American Dollars in America and reduce the import/export deficit?
An appealing remedy might be to boycott their GAS. Every time you fill up your car you can avoid putting more money into the coffers of Saudi Arabia. Just purchase gas from companies that don't import their oil from the Saudis.
Except if we don't buy it, someone else will- and probably pay more.
The author then goes on to list the 'good' stations and the 'bad' stations that we're supposed to either buy or not buy from.

I just want to make one fact clear
Before I send you to these two stories.
Adolph Hitler was the most rabid anti-smoker in modern history.
First we have Howard Weyers and his policy of firing smokers (in 2005).
Now we have healthNAZIs taking another look at that policy.
Oh, yeah. I'm off today because the A/C is sick.
At best it'll only cost around $200 for a recharge (if I get paid my 8 mo-old comp time), and I don't even want to think what a new compressor will cost at worse.
UPDATE-3:30PM
They just called and canceled for the day.
Wanted to make it another day, I told them that I don't get paid for not working so I'll find someone who CAN make it today.
Now I have another company coming out between 5 and 7PM.

Now that's refreshing
A lot more refreshing than the two gallons of water that I sweated out today laying conduit.
Ok, one more?
How about ZZ Top like you've never heard them before?
Well, unless you were at the 2007 Houston Livestock show and rodeo.

How to boil an egg
Recipe 1:
Run cold water into the saucepan until the water is 1 inch above the egg.
Place the saucepan on a stove and cook over medium heat until the water begins to boil.
Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes for soft-boiled eggs or 10 to 15 minutes for hard-boiled eggs.
Remove the egg with a spoon or ladle and let it cool slowly, or run cold water over it to cool it more quickly.
Recipe 2:
Cover with at least one inch of cold water over tops of shells.
Cover pot with lid and bring to a boil over medium heat.
As soon as the water comes to a full boil, remove from heat and let stand.
-Large soft-cooked eggs: let stand in hot water 1 to 4 minutes, depending on your tastes.
-Large hard-cooked eggs: let stand in hot water 15 to 17 minutes.
When cooked to desired level, drain off hot water.
Immediately cover with cold water and add a few ice cubes.
Recipe 3:
Place eggs in a saucepan with enough COLD tap water to cover completely by 1 inch.
Bring to a ROLLING boil over HIGH heat. Once the water is brought to a rolling boil, PROMPTLY reduce heat to a lower medium boil and cook an additional 10 minutes for a “hard boiled” egg.
For a “soft boiled” egg reduce the time by a few minutes.
Remove from heat and IMMEDIATELY place eggs under ice cold water or in a bowl of ICED water to chill promptly to help yolks stay bright yellow.
For something as simple as boiling an egg we have the first three recipes that I got from Yahoo search. People have been eating eggs since Grock grunted to Org: "Look at those soft rocks with a runny center- try one!"
Org: "No, I might get Salmonella."
Grock:"I'll crown you with my Brontosaurus-thigh club!"
Org:"OK. *Gaia- I'm gonna hafta find a new running buddy*."
Org cracks one open and slurps it down. "Yuk! It's slimy- almost as bad as that nasty-assed okra you made me eat least week. But it won't be too bad when they invent a skillet to cook it with."
Ooops...back to reality.
Three examples of a simple way to boil an egg- it's NOT rocket science.
But they are ALL in 'consensus' about globalwarming climate change?
Which is a lot more complicated than chicken ova and hot water?
Why do I think someone is blowing smoke up my skirt?

In speaking of the most ethical party thaf has ever graced the floors of Congress
You may have heard about St. Barry and the questionable vetting wizards.
The same people who St. Obama was vilifying not two years ago (but that's history, and we all know how well Barry remembers that). Which happened to be everyone involved in the ARM mortgage mess. One of which happened to be Jim Johnson (ex-chief of Fannie Mae [the Fed mortgage regulator])-who by the luck of the draw ended up working to vet the Obamanators VP picks.
Except, he wasn't *really* working for the most articulate black presidential candidate in this race, because he was volunteering....or something.
That's just a background for this example of Frank Dodd's (D-Conn AND chair of the Senate Banking Committee)complete B.S. dissembling about special privileges commonplace in the offices of power.
OR you might (if you really believed this Bravo Sierra) end up realizing just how absolutely out of touch with *real* America most Congresscritters are.
Anyway, here's Frank explaining his loan rates (and his credit history is only mentioned 2/3 of the way through the article).
WASHINGTON (AP) - Senate Banking Committee Chairman Christopher J. Dodd, a leader of Congress' efforts to help homeowners ensnared in the subprime mortgage meltdown, reportedly got special treatment on his own mortgages from the CEO of Countrywide Financial Corp., a company whose practices he has called ``abusive.''
At least one other lawmaker, Sen. Kent Conrad, D-N.D., also benefited from the VIP treatment after placing a personal call to Countrywide CEO Angelo Mozilo seeking a mortgage.
Both senators say they weren't aware they were getting special deals.
~snip~
It could be especially damaging for Dodd, D-Conn., one of four Democrats who pursued his party's 2008 presidential nomination, given his high-profile role in crafting a broad housing rescue. It comes as Dodd is engaged in intense behind-the-scenes negotiations with lawmakers and the Bush administration to complete that measure.
``As a United States senator, I would never ask or expect to be treated differently than anyone else refinancing their home,'' Dodd said in a statement. [bullchit! you think you're a king.]
Lawmakers' participation in the VIP program is coming to light just days after similar revelations prompted Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee, to ax one of his vice presidential vetters, Jim Johnson, who also apparently benefited.
~snip~
Conrad, the Budget Committee chairman, said it was Johnson who referred him to Mozilo [CEO of Countrywide] in 2002 when the North Dakotan was seeking a loan to buy a vacation home in Bethany Beach, Del.
`I called (Mozilo). I said, 'I'm buying this property. Would you be interested in the mortgage?', and he said, 'Yeah. Call these people and we'll take a look,''' Conrad said.
``I deal with the heads of companies every day, and I didn't find it at all unusual. I did not think for one moment - and no one ever suggested to me - that I was getting preferential treatment,'' Conrad said. [Of course, you are so used to getting the royal treatment that you don't even see it anymore]
~snip~
`When my wife and I refinanced our loans in 2003, we did not seek or expect any favorable treatment. Just like millions of other Americans, we shopped around and received competitive rates,'' Dodd said. [No, your people made calls to pressure loan officers.]
Conrad obtained a $1.16 million loan from Countrywide in 2002 to buy his vacation home, then refinanced twice through the company. Portfolio reported that an internal e-mail from Mozilo instructed an employee to give Conrad a 1-percent discount off his interest rate on his 2004 refinance of $1.07 million, a savings of about $10,000 a year in interest payments.
~snip~
`If they did me a favor, they did it without my knowledge and without my requesting it,'' Conrad said. ``It's an appearance issue, but in terms of substance, I have not done one single thing wrong here.'' [I didn't request but I'd be surprised if I didn't get a good rate.]
~snip~
Countrywide also made an exception in lending Conrad $96,000 in 2004 to buy an 8-unit apartment building from his brothers. The company had a policy of only providing loans for buildings of four units or fewer.
``They said they frequently made exceptions, especially for good customers, and I was a very good customer,'' Conrad said.
An internal e-mail from Mozilo, however, said the exception was ``due to the fact that the borrower is a senator,'' according to the Portfolio report. [Finally the money quote!]
The rest of the article is just as enlightening about out political processes.

In case you live under a rock,
And have absolutely NO access to the news.
Tim Russert died today at work.
Now join every electronic media in America in their collective mourning- not that you'll be able to avoid it unless you unplug and tune out.
Even that moronic 'Access Hollywood' is having a retrospective.

Ten years ago, William Jefferson Clinton extended and expanded the ban on drilling for virtually the entire U.S. landmass.

Ummm-Republicans,,,?
Just curious here.
I know it wouldn't fly.
....BUT
Just suppose you found someone who was pretty untainted by D.C. politics as usual AND (more important) glorifying in his oneness with mainstream America -to the point of rubbing his unPCness in their faces.
Add to that the fact that he really does have rock star status from his own endeavours (and not the anointment of the Legacy Media)
And I give you our next president.
Yeah Kurt- in your dreams, we'll keep getting "almost-but-not-quite-as-Liberal-as-the-Dems" candidates until were another Europe with all of their failed plans.

Texas Cps lost another to FLDS
The way their case keeps getting more and more light thrown on it by the courts, it's looking like they really were on a fishing expedition on some fringe cult.
Because *any* kind of fundamentalist religion (except for the religion of peace and tolerance)is ,,,,you know got to be abusing kids somehow.
I'm just wondering if anyone out there might have a change of mind and want to rescind their allegations of "child rape", "widespread child abuse" and the like, due to the MSM in bed with CPS to create a *presumed guilty* mindset FOR a state agency?
Then of course they'd cover the

Green TV
I've been seeing advertising for this on Discovery channel quite a bit.
I was under the assumption that it was a new cable channel, but I guess you have to pay attention to know that it's webTV. Silly me, I DON"T pay much attention to commercials unless they're extremely good or teeth gratingly bad.
Anyway, I was wondering about just how green a mass broadcasting GreenTV can be, since they tout themselves as "totally Green!"
I don't know how to break it to them, but the power stations that make the electricity to power their servers, switches, routers and home computers belch out thousands of pounds of 'greenhouse gasses' daily to power their green network. --Because their Envirowako buddies fight tooth and nail against letting us go nuke in the U.S.
Then we have all the poisonous, caustic, exotic and rare materials that go into the production of all those electronic marvels that spread the 'green' word about living in harmony with Gaea.
And in addition to the usual Liberal hypocrisy about their 'feel goodism' you 8really8 need broadband to take advantage of this newest Green info network. If you're on dial-up your pretty mush SOL because you're on the wrong side of the digital divide.
But that's Ok because the people that put this together are copacetic because even if the result is tits-up, it's the *intent* that matters.

Funny how omnipotent W is
Because St. Barry the Democrat Presidential candidate seems to be completely powerless as a Senator.
He and his entire Democrat majority are absolutely unable to affect the economy for good or bad.
It's all Bush's fault. As I would have commented on Texas Freds blog (registration required), when St. Barry attacks McCain on the economy- all Big John needs to do is mention who is in charge of BOTH chambers of Congress.
The MSM keeps harping on how low Bush's approval ratings are- All McCain has to do is mention the approval of,,,,,,,,,,,,,oh- bad idea since Maverick John McCain is also a Senator. Who has done more for bipartisan matters than BOTH of the Democratic Senator presidential wannabes together.
BUT- none of the- what 579 of them in DC want to actually let us use our own oil to drop some of these sky high aggregate prices.

Sunday breakfast
Biscuits and gravy.
How do you do yours? On top or on the side? Big chunks of sausage or fine?
I went on the weekly grocery run today. $103 and change- it would have been alot more if I would have needed meat. Sorry hun, chicken doesn't count as meat.
AND almost EIGHT DOLLARS for a can of Folgers cofee- add another generic brand to the preferred list.
I guess it was good that no one showed up in the sporting goods section after they'd been paged or I'd have spent another $27 on 100rds of Win-white box.
Looks like I'll have to really think about getting a site up for pistol displays.
I have a Colt that needs feeding, and I'd rather other people helped.

Amdro ant bait
Does it work on cockroaches?
More detail when I get back from finishing my 20 hours of O.T. for the week.
See, the black dog has decided that she will not tolerate anything to move near the house.
That includes mice, frogs, spiders, and anything she can hear.
She'll dig and disturb anything she can, so naturally- they move away from the disturbance.
Our house is right in the middle of he 'patrol zone' so naturally everything she forces to mover heads toward the house.
I've taken care of the mouse problem (for now) and now we're seeing cockroaches- that we hadn't seen the entire time we've lived here.
And to make things even more interesting, I got shorted two days on this check and the A/C compressor is having problems. I hope it just needs a recharge.

Did you know that only 13 Republicans voted against Tax and Cap?
John Cornyn and KBH both voted to increase your tax burden by $902 Billion in the next nine years.
And that is on the low side, because we all know that the CBO lowballs taxpayer costs and inflates benefits.
CBO estimates that enacting the legislation would increase revenues [OUR TAX MONEY] by about $902 billion over the 2009-2018 period, net of income and payroll tax offsets[AFTER DEDUCTIONS]. Over the next 10 years, we estimate that direct spending would total about $836 billion [AT A MINIMUM]. The additional revenues from enacting this legislation would exceed the new direct spending by an estimated $66 billion, thus decreasing future deficits (or increasing surpluses) by that amount over the next 10 years. Other spending could result from enactment of the bill, but it would be subject to future appropriation action [WE CAN'T EVEN GUESS HOW MUCH THIS'LL COST]. This estimate does not address such spending. In years after 2018, net revenues attributable to the legislation would exceed annual direct spending through 2050. Yeah, that's my bolding.
So, what is it that makes them not listen to the vast majority of the voters who don't want to waste money- AND pay even higher energy costs for some PC B.S. that only Libs believe?
Ok, that was a no brainer- money and power, all forwarded by getting re-elected.
The end-all and be-all of politics. Now the energy lobbyists are all flooding re-election coffers as fast as they can get a Senators attention.
I DARE a politician to come on here and tell me I'm wrong and that they're "Doing this for the betterment of the Nation"....
I know you think we're absolute morons- but just *HOW* stupid do you really think we are. I don't think I'll be voting for anything with a "R" behind their name.
Oh,,,Glenn?, Rush? You DO remember that about 140 years ago the Republican party was a minor third party- right?

In the battle of the sexes
As long as there is a whiff of testosterone in the house, a woman is functionally incapable of doing two things.
- Taking out the trash. She'd (they'd) rather see a trashcan hidden in the corner than to do something about it.
- Unload the dishwasher. No matter what they did during the day, or how long and hard the guy worked- if there are clean dishes in the dishwasher- used utensils will pile up in the sink. Until the guy gets tired of seeing them.

Squeaky is asking a question
Go over to her blog and answer her Obama question, if you have something pertinant to say.
I couldn't help the snark, and left a comment.
She really wants to know what makes the Obama..nites tick, so lets let anyone who's supporting Barry have a go.
I'm sure she won't get many takers from here, but I'm ready to help.

Telephone surveys
I'm doing a phone market survey as we speak.
I wonder, going on the answers I gave, just how accurate they think they are?
Given it was an almost un-understandable english on a bad phone line with a bad Indian accent, and a lengthy choice list for each. and. every. name of every fast food name in America, and an obligatory yes-no answer to each. menu. item.

Given it was an almost un-understandable english on a bad phone line with a bad Indian accent, and a lengthy choice list for each. and. every. name of every fast food name in America, and an obligatory yes-no answer to each. menu. item.

In light of the falling-apart CPS allegations
The false imprisonment of American citizens due to their religious beliefs.
The blanket accusations without facts- disseminated to the news media for maximum propaganda- in spite of yet ANOTHER amendment to the Bill of Rights (assumption of innocence)
The fact that all of the children including the one from the EIGHTEEN year old who was imprisoned without charge until her child was born and then thrown into foster care.
We bring you the new theme song for Texas Child Protective Services:

Amazing home remedies
1. If you’re choking on an ice cube, simply pour boiling water down your throat: PRESTO! The blockage will instantly remove itself.
2. Avoid cutting yourself when slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold the vegetables while you chop.
3. Avoid arguments with the females about lifting the toilet seat by using the sink.
4. For high blood pressure sufferers: Simply cut yourself good and bleed for a few minutes, thus reducing the pressure in your veins. Remember to use a timer.
5. A mouse trap located on top of your alarm clock will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button.
6. If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives, then you’ll be afraid to cough.
7. You only need two tools in life: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn’t move and should, use the WD-40. If it moves and shouldn’t, use the Duct Tape.
8. Remember: Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.
9. If you can’t fix it with a hammer, you’ve got an electrical problem.

I wonder where he'll go next?
I suppose you've all heard about the Obamassiah finally quitting his church of 20 years.
Because:
"This is not a decision I come to lightly ... and it is one I make with some sadness," Obama said at a news conference after campaign officials released a letter of resignation he sent to the church on Friday.
"I'm not denouncing the church and I'm not interested in people who want me to denounce the church," he said, adding that the new pastor at Trinity and "the church have been suffering from the attention my campaign has focused on them."
Of course you're not denouncing the church, or the people involved OR their anti-American racial hate mongering- you believe it.
As far as the church suffering from the attention, they wouldn't be if it were anywhere near mainstream America, you clueless @sshole. Your campaignfinally exposed their anti-American beliefs to an audience who hasn't drunk the........hot chocolate.
It's been said before on places with bigger audiences than I ever will, but if you *REALLY* were uncomfortable with what was being said, you should have left, no matter how *good* the people were.
Ya know that he and Michelle are elitist Libs just in it for street cred and to use people to help themselves get farther.
What I'm wondering is what they told their two trusting, believing children about the whole thing? How it was an intolerant racist white Americas fault that they couldn't go back to their church?
I wonder if these two are looking for new congregants? But then, you'd need a congregation instead of just a storefront lawsuit mill wouldn't you?
UPDATE-
Looks like Haloscan is broke for a while.

I've never seen Sex in the City
Never had the slightest inclination to- after I found out they kept their cloths on.
But that being said Sarah Jessica Parker looks like a horse.
In a cute marish way as opposed to a nightmarish way.
So does Bette Midler.

More racial healing from the Obamamessiah
This time in the form of Fr. Michael Pfleger- who I took as black when I heard his sermon on the radio. But then Foxnews thinks he's a protestant (if you read the caption).
So, are we supposed to get all racial now and start referring to him as some sort of food?
You know, like when the blacks want to act like normal Americans instead of some illiterate thug from the 'hood is called an *Oreo*- black on the outside and white in the middle.
Or a *Coconut* an Hispanic that wants to be mainstream instead of being some barrio vato?
I've hard of Bananas, too
What are feather Indians calling themselves? Dot Indians?
Back to Fr. Pfleger- are we supposed to be calling him a *Snowball* now, or just your average ...Communist Socialist agitator?
I'm not sure of the protocols here. I mean are we supposed to get some racial hatemongers to speak for us while we're shutting down Chicago?
Who do we hit up for extortion money?
Do we get a tee-shirt?

You wouldn't know it from this blog
But I scored five points higher than normal on this Civic Literacy test.
Although I guessed at quite a few, I at least had an idea to start my rationalization from.
Which is better than just taking a wild @ssed guess like it looks like most college students did.
I'd also like to take issue with three that I got wrong, but giving them the benefit of the doubt- I started this at 5:40AM, and also don't have their material to look at.
You also might want to take a look at the rankings of a certain Ivy League school who has graced us with a presidential candidate and his wife.

I told you there was something fishy- didn't i?
The more we hear about the thought police religious brown shirts Yearning For Zion Ranch and the legal questions makes me sure my media radar was right.
the vast majority of those "abused" minors who were mothers now turn out to be adults.
Under normal circumstances, the children would not have been automatically stripped from their parents and sent all over Texas- except that it happened to be a non-moslem fundamentalist religion. The state even held an 18 year old ADULT in custody until she gave birth and then sent the newborn to an unrelated group of people in it for the money. (ok, that wasn't fair- but fosters ARE getting my tax money)
Now the state has to return the stolen children to their loving family. Just another example of the state over reaching their authority in this religious witch hunt.
The more that dribbles out of the media black-out the less the state has to show. I heard that the wost charge the DA might be looking at is the polygamy thing- and minor violations like you could be charged with if anyone looked hard enough. It also seems that those pregnant prepubescent teens probably ended up there for a search engine hitcount more than -you know,,,there *really* being pregnant 13 year old girls there.
If you have a question on the MSMs take on things just feel free to ask "Mr. Media BS detectorman".

Overheard at a Wall St.office
Say Stephan, did you see anything unusual this morning?
Not really Gregory, did you?
Yes as a matter of fact. When I was picking up this months Bimmer, I saw a dog peeing on an Exxon pump.
Ohhhhh? So that means....
YES! Lets go bid up the price of crude $5 a barrel!
I never really liked those @ssholish dotcom millionairs back in the 90's, but I never wished for them to loose everything they made from their business like I do with those oil profiteers.
I'd love to hear sob stories about how badly their life is when the bubble finally bursts and they're holding millions of barrels of crude worth a quarter that they paid.

Annoying radio commercials
You know the ones. The ones where you just can't turn the thing off fast enough after you recognize the first voice,,,
There's a new one out by Verizon for their WiFi setup, or something. This one has a ditz in a coffe shop complaining about not being able to leave or she'll have to actualy close her laptop.
I think I was behind her this morning because whatever she was doing in that car didn't have anything to do with driving.
