I guess my teachers never got that memo

The one that some historians, starting in the late '30s, said that the colonials were horrible shots.



I was always taught that those mere farmers were veterans of the indian wars and used their fire arms to hunt for food, and that their best shots were bent on taking out the officers. Which has been ok'd by this article written by an author at The American rifleman.

It has plenty of interesting info from 'back in the day' where muskets were common and one hit in 50 shots was considered expert marksmanship.
