I broke a waterline last week

It wasn't marked and no-one even knew it was there. I was exposing our conduit and stuck a side tooth through the pipe.

It took then forever to find the right valve,,, and another couple hours to discover they forgot to turn off the back-flow preventer.
We couldn't get all the water out of the hole because the conduit was acting like a dam, so I went in (up to my knees in water) and dug under the conduit.

After we got the pipe fixed, I had to buy a new pair of boots as the others took three days to dry.
When I was wearing those new boots, my left heel started hurting- which I attributed to new boots.

Turns out that it's the way I'm sitting on the backhoe while gingerly feeling for unknown utilities.

F*ck politics for one night

In rememberance of old girlfriends;

And she wasn't so much fat-bottomed as pleasingly plump...

Then I got married...

Buy a Gun Day

Does anyone do that anymore?
Just wondering because I forgot until today.

Geting there

Some before and after shots of the workshop-

....I hope I don't have to tell you which is which.......

I had to murder one of the oaks right next to the house the other day, so I can get my midget penguin pr()n from one of the radio towers a couple miles away.
I spent last night out there so I could get things like dismembering the body for furniture or flooring when it's dried out and cremating the rest.

Technically... This is not a trench

Who knows why?

Edit to add:

And I found all four of those conduits scraping 1/4" at a time.
...WITHOUT even a cheek-full of Redman.

Happiness is...

And not just because the sun was out-

I drove the same S-10 for over ten years

I drove the Ranger for about four months and never had a windshield chip in either one.

I get the high Dollar Silverado and get two withing two weeks.

One is a crack I can ignore, the new one (this morning) is right in my line of sight.

So I guess I'll have to see if i want to pay of have my insurance tell me the deductible will take care of it ---and I pay increased premiums.

I just hope the window place can save my inspection and registration stickers....

Be sure you wag your tail real nicely

Oh!

Did I say that out loud?

I really think this other house...

Was built by a lineman back in the day...

From the gains cut into the pole to the old (ancient) cross arms with wooden insulator pins.

Why girls can't play football

1- Guys loose their concentration.
2- Everyone wants to be Quarterback.

You're welcome.

Now to drown the thought of a $15,000 ford tractor, and my melted card....

Priorities

Everyone has them...
Hey!
Did you hear about Thurston Kerry III getting all weewee'd-up about the Israeli Defense Minister telling the truth?

Sunday, March 16, 2014

Been busy-

Having two places 90 minutes from each other takes things out of you.

On the other hand, we got the new gate finished- the first thing we've done that didn't *need* to be done.
Plus, having the boss let me use the drill rig over the week-end saved about $1000.

Now some random pics from wherever I found them:

How can someone- in this day and age...

live without running water?

When we bought the place I didn't notice the Knob and tube wiring that would have saved me at least $4,000 off the price, but the tweeker living there had the water shut off.

He had the main water line cut under the main valve and a hose 90'd off (direct to the male theraded 90- no valve there, either0.
We I get that fixed and turn pon the water to see almost every pipe leaking.....

Crap! That's another $6,000 I could have saved.

I found the guy didn't know what a wrench was- or how to use it to tighten pipes.
I 'm in the process of replacing the floor the throne sat on and the wall I had to tear out for the tub valves.
I guess I'll add a shower head, since I have to redo the entire wall.

The lavatroty sink is gone, but the faucet is still there.
The kitchen sink is gone and so is the faucet.

I was thinking of saving it and making it a guest house/ hobby room, because it is Texas history, but now I think I'll take it apart and see what's usable later.

Before I even read this article...

I'm going to call Democrat staffers.

Because...it's "our money paying for it, why not let us have it"?

Besides, it goes with the territory....
If you feel entitled to grab anything you want, why be bothered with secret documents?

Right Sandy Burgler?

190V phase to neutral.

The service drop is only about 30 feet.

Now we wonder- did they tap it at that, or is the transformer going?

Bonus question:
With the hot knob & tube and 190V in the walls, why didn't it burn down already?

All your infrastruturezz belongs to mee!

Another "shovel-ready" stimulus project showing the betterment of society.......... or something.

1/3 of this interstate has been closed for about four years.

The joys of home ownership- doubled

I could have saved $3000 on the land if I'd only looked up when we had our inspection walkaround.

That's how much I know my company would have charged to rewire the treehouse....
Does anyone know what that is?

Yeah, it's been illegal for at least 30 years, and I thought it stopped in the `40's.

AND it's still hooked up...
EDIT to add-
The only thing that has power now is the well.
....And I"ll have to shut that off so I can fix the supply problem the tweeker caused by cutting the pipe BELOW the shut-off valve....
(note to self)- bring air compressor tomorrow to re-pressure the tank........

The land is ours

I was starting to wonder- with all the delays and property line mistakes- if we would be.
The realtor was starting to send us new property to think about, but they finally got everything signed off and we turned over the cashiers check today at2:30PM.

Now we start fixing "the treehouse" up for temporary lodging while I'm working and building the new manse.

Yeah- I need to remember to hold the phone sideways when videoing....

I don't think so, Skippy

The ones they sell on E-bay didn't have their chains run dry for miles.
...AND they have both adjusting nuts.

BUT- the plastic is still shiny....

Rained out

And it wasn't for you John Cornyn- who sat on your GOP money while the Clinton money man Terry McAuliff won over a Republican Conservative.

Get you bucket and mop ready

so you can get rid of this smug condescension about the "homeless" they have a 'foto-essay' about.

Because we have to be smug and superior when talking about the 'unfortunate', don't we?

Instead of calling them bums that want to live like this, we need to use that $250,000 English pop-culture taglines we learned in some Liberal Arts course in the 'humanities'.

And now for something you really want to see

Via Greg-

We have always curvacious Kate Upton involved in a swimsuit shoot weightless......

A sample conversation at work today

We're drilling piers for an HEB expansion downtown San Antonio.
The specs call for 22' deep in fill. 18' in broken rock or 3' into any bedrock we find above that.

Me (on my perch on the drill rig)- I hit rock, but it's not very hard."

Terracon QC guy-  "How hard is it?"
Me- "not George Thorogood hard."

Terracon-"More like Michael Bolton?"
Me- "More like the Bangles."

Terracon- "Ok, that'll work, go another three feet."

Henry rifle update

Ok, so I got to sight it in, and at the bosses ranch.

I parked the truck about 40 yards from a good backstop and tried it out.
With stock front sights and a 'bolt-on' Williams receiver peep-site, we were about 4'' low.

Adjusted them higher and were about 4" of the "sighting mark" on the aluminum sheet metal target.

Went back to work and by the time I had time again, the range was full of cattle :-(

Anyway- if anyone else has a Henry - Does any of your casings sho just one side that has a large carbon..."footprint"?
I'm noticing on mine that it has a definite out-gassing in the firing chamber, and was wondering if I got a bad gun, or it's normal until it's broken in?

So far it's had about 20 rounds through it.

Sunday, February 16, 2014

BUT,,, on the good side of things-

At least I'll be able to walk those new peep sites in on the Henry tomorrow.
I left boss with my keys to the rock saw and he took them home with him today (Sunday) so I'm going to the ranch and waiting for something to do until I get my (official) keys back.

So- I have a new Henry, a box of ammo- about an hour of paid time while waiting on my keys and paid to shoot.
That's one benny of the job:-)
AND when he gets out there, he'll probably want to give it a try.

20 hours in two days

And the bosses cows now have water!

I guess it's cheaper to run 1500' of 2" water line from the water meter than drill a well right next to the stock pens.
Kinda interesting to have a millionaire acting as a spotter and the two kids putting pipe together.

He just shook his head when I rolled up for the last talk before leaving playing this :-D
