I just took care of another cat that was causing commotion at Casa Trainwreck.
This time the dogs found it under Karens truck and destroyed the wind dam trying to get to it. I don't know if it was the same one they scratched the chit out of my paint trying for last week or not.
This one was an orange one that's not going to be spreading disease vectors, knocking over trash cans, yowling all night long or spraying my trucks.
It was fast and less painful than becoming prey for a car or larger animal.
What I have a hard time coming to terms with is the "Humane sterilization and release" programs out there because of misguided 'caring'.
Look, they're wild. cats.
Cats that only see human beings as a threat.
They kill birds for fun. They have to Savage for food. When they become ill, they suffer. If they get in a fight or hit by a car, they're injured and suffer- maybe an agonizing death.
They're an invasive species to the ecosystem they live in, and in some parts of the world are an economic hazard because of their habits, like the rabbits in OZ.
Why, when you have them trapped, are you going to waste all that extra hard to come-by money spaying or neutering a wild cat when it's ready for $5 of CO or a $10 shot in the arm? Their ummm...pshykie is already freaking because they're trapped and surrounded by HUGE threatening people that have to gas them to even get near them, then spend a hounded dollars and days letting them heal before releasing them.
To a life of searching for food, shelter and just trying to survive another day?

Jeremy Clarkson on motorcycles
To boil it down: "You will be killed."
...A word of warning, though. If you use only the front brake, you will fly over the steering wheel and be killed. If you try to use the back one, you will use the wrong foot and change into third gear instead of stopping. So you’ll hit the obstacle you were trying to avoid, and you’ll be killed.
...The steering wheel comes in the shape of what can only be described as handlebars, but if you turn them — even slightly — while riding along, you will fall off and be killed. What you have to do is lean into the corner, fix your gaze on the course you wish to follow, and then you will fall off and be killed
...you get a horn and lights and indicators, all of which are operated by various switches and buttons on the steering wheel, but if you look down to see which one does what, a truck will hit you and you will be killed.
...the indicators do not self-cancel, which means you will drive with one of them on permanently, which will lead following traffic to think you are turning right. It will then undertake (they will pass you -Kurt)just as you turn left, and you will be killed.
In other words, your small 125cc motorcycle, which has no boot, no electric windows, no stereo and no bloody heater even, will end up costing more than a Volkswagen Golf. That said, a bike is much cheaper to run than a car. In fact, it takes only half a litre of fuel to get from your house to the scene of your first fatal accident. Which means that the lifetime cost of running your new bike is just 50p.
You may know Jeremy from his show on BBCAmerica, including the Stig (which I am informed that Tam resembles).
You may have seen Jeremy picking a fight with a Challenger tank on this You-tube several months ago:

Mistakes
Alfred, Lord Tennyson
The Charge of the Light Brigade
1.
Half a league, half a league,
Half a league onward,
All in the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!
"Charge for the guns!" he said:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
2.
"Forward, the Light Brigade!"
Was there a man dismay'd?
Not tho' the soldier knew
Someone had blunder'd:
Their's not to make reply,
Their's not to reason why,
Their's but to do and die:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred.
3.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon in front of them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,
Into the mouth of Hell
Rode the six hundred.
4.
Flash'd all their sabres bare,
Flash'd as they turn'd in air,
Sabring the gunners there,
Charging an army, while
All the world wonder'd:
Plunged in the battery-smoke
Right thro' the line they broke;
Cossack and Russian
Reel'd from the sabre stroke
Shatter'd and sunder'd.
Then they rode back, but not
Not the six hundred.
5.
Cannon to right of them,
Cannon to left of them,
Cannon behind them
Volley'd and thunder'd;
Storm'd at with shot and shell,
While horse and hero fell,
They that had fought so well
Came thro' the jaws of Death
Back from the mouth of Hell,
All that was left of them,
Left of six hundred.
6.
When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
All the world wondered.
Honor the charge they made,
Honor the Light Brigade,
Noble six hundred.

Does a Smurf turn when you choke him?

I think they've lived long enough...

Humph...
Cops bracing for after election violence.
Yep, no matter who wins there are some who will riot. They'll riot and burn to celebrate, or they'll use it for an excuse to riot and loot if Obama looses.
But one thing I can guarantee you is that less two weeks after the election is over, we'll have soldiers in the streets.
Almost every town will see members of the armed forces walking down their street.
I'm so sure of this that I bet that weeks pay against a payment to my paypal account that you'll hear reports about it on the national news less than two weeks from Nov. 4th.
...And no, I'm not being paranoid- I can use the past to see the future.
Wanna bet?

My guilty (?) pleasure
Karen refuses to even look at them- because they come from the insides of a chicken.
Down here we have in certain Shell stations, a small chicken chain called "Chester's Fried chicken". Nice original name, huh?
Anyway if you can find them, they make the best deep fried gizzards I've had.
I'm trying to get close to their recipe and I'm closing in, I think.
This is what I've got so far:
In a 1 gal food baggie dump-
I'm getting good results at a high medium (or low high) on the electric range.
Drop in about 1/3 of the flat into the coating mix and shake -well then let sit until the oil is ready.
When ready to cook, reshake the batch and sift through your fingers as you place them in oil.
Cook about 6 minutes ( I'm looking at seven next time) and set on to drain on paper towels.
Salt
Repeat for the rest.
Sit down and ignore the fawning, drooling dogs at your feet.

"Walk for Change!"
Today is the first day of early voting here in Texas.
According to TV4 news, the UTSA has a new voting center and to inaugurate it- they'll have a "Walk for Change!" around the campus.
I guess they'll walk around the university accepting voter registrations on the way to the voting booths.
I wonder which campaign got that idea?

The movie
Remember: Swords, they'll cut you wide open!
And ladies,,,Trip Fisk has a moustach in this one.

How ironic
I saw this article about a guy that only admitted to having a Purple Heart from 'Nam- but ended up with over 100 on his Dd-214 with six tours over there.
I was going to mention the last Dem. hero with SIX Purple Hearts from one foreshortened tour, when I saw Himself requested by the vets family to ty to get replacements.
I wonder -just in passing- if any will go onto Big John's "I love me" wall? Or onto his resume for the next time he's looking at a national office?

Any guesses
on how long it will be before "Joe the Plumber" is declared a 'distraction' by one campaign or the other?
AND in seeing all this dirt dug up about Joe, it's nice to know that the Legacy Media remembers how to look into a persons history once in a while.
Too bad they don't do it for Presidential candidates.

So.... just out of curiosity
when DID they start keeping records of the Arctic Ocean?
I mean if they're sending out dire warnings about record temps and ice melts, shouldn't they give some kind of history?
I seem to remember that as late as the mid 19th century it was extremely hazardous to even try to reach the north pole, much less keep weather outposts up on the ice.

The next generation of safety bans
I'd say it's straight from that formerly admirable doughty island nation known as Great Britain. But they left that ideal in the dust of history.
Anyway, this could have been an advert there,,,except for the American accent.
And slightly NSFW because of the F-bomb- alot.
Remember...swords- they'll f#cking kill you!

A question about wimmen
Why, when they get out of the shower, do they have to wrap a towel into a turban?
Wouldn't it be more comfortable (and less unwieldy) to drape a towel over your shoulders until you hair is dry?

This doesn't surprise me
I've driven an 18 wheeler in Florida.
The fact that only FOUR cars hit it does.
They're backed up because of a washing machine in the road and I'd bet my next paycheck that NOBODY is even thinking about dragging the thing to the shoulder.

Dear Congress
Thanks for f*cking up the economy.
I just spent about $25 more for the same amount of food than I did even six months ago.
Even the Walmart branded bread costs almost a dollar, and forget anything close to cheap meat; not to mention ANYTHING that has even a whiff of corn attached to its manufacture.
As for thatgasahol ADM payback you're calling renuable fuel, I'm not buying any. I refuse to pay more for something that gives me even WORSE fuel economy.
If you really wanted to help the economy, you should have shovelled that $800+ BILLION dollars to every taxpayer in the U.S.- that may have even stopped the hemorraging of Wall St. I know I would have loaded up on stocks if I could have afforded it. I can't, though because everything you touch is costing me more and more.
Have I mentioned I'll not be voting for ANY incumbant this time around?
That includes John Cornyn and the soon-to-be-running-for-Governer Kay Bailey-Hutchinson.
My Rep is a Dem, so that's already been decided.

Who is Travis Barker?
I accidentally clicked on Yahoo images (without a search term) and got this giraffe necked dork.
I'm sorry Albert R. Gore Jr.
But we were at the home of one of those evil rich people yesterday cutting down a tree destroying a carbon offset and one of Gaea's children.
It was an Arizona Ash that was threatening the bosses lake house.
A BIG ash tree that had come to the end of it's lifespan and was threatening his roof.
So I got to stress test the newest boom truck we had.
It was almost found wanting on the first limb we tried because that chunk of tree was lifting both of the opposite side stabilizers. (It felt like the truck was going over when the limb let go.) The weight chart said that it was rated at about two tomes at a 30 degree angle and 50' out...it didn't look that heavy when we first cut it.
After a day of cutting and chipping, we're down to the final big chunks that we can't even give away, because it's not much more than pulpwood. I wonder if Selma has a burn ban in effect today?

Here's something you won't be seeing on the Legacy media
Or should I say something else that's being buried by the MSM?
David C. Kernell, the Sarah Palin e-mail hacker has been indicted on ONE count of hacking into a private e-mail account.
Yep, the electric and the dead tree media who were so concerned about the rights of terrorists being infringed upon see nothing wrong with a 20 year old adult hijacking (and then posting them online with the new access data) online for all to see.
And steal other personal information.
Gee, if it were a Republican breaking the law like that, don't you think they'd throw the book at him?
Even if his dad was a high muckety muck in the Tennessee GOP.

This Bill Ayres thing
And the way the Left...and the ObaMessiah himself just doesn't comprehend how flyovercountry looks at Himself and their relationship.
His quote on the Stephenoppolus show:
"This is a guy who lives in my neighborhood, who's a professor of English in Chicago, uh, who I know, and who I have not received some official endorsement from - he's not somebody I exchange ideas from(sic) on a regular basis. The notion that somehow as a consequence of me knowing somebody who engaged in detestable acts forty years ago when I was eight years old, ah, somehow reflects on me and my values, doesn't make much sense, George."
Ok, he was only six when it happened, and Ayres never recanted.
No blood, no foul- right? it was ages ago.
Now, what if I were running for office and I was paling around with Lt. Calley?
Do you think they'd let it go as 'Hey, I was ten years old when it happened, water under the bridge and all....get over it!"
Charles Manson did his thing about that time, too...if he were politically connected the MSM would see no problem with Barry hanging with chuck, would they...because it happened so long ago- besides they're only acquaintances.

Let see if I understand
We had the Dems forcing banks to lend money to under qualified people and others who rushed in to throw loans at illegals.
When the housing market and the ENRON style accounting that was going on up in FREDDY-MAY started to head south, everyone started to panic.
Then the same people who caused the FANNY-MAC problems in the first place decided to "fix" the problem with even *more* meddling. But that was supposed ti fix the problem.
Then came the meltdown over at Wall St. and we just had to rush a $700,000,000,000 taxpayer funded giveaway to 'save' the industry.
This $700 Billion which incidentally was just pulled from Paulsons ass with no other reason than "it was a huge number" (I read that on a forgotten blog last week).
Now we are told that this massive and pork laden bill ...which was so urgent that no one really knew what those 400 pages really said- because no one took the time to READ the thing...isn't going to do much good until the housing market regains it's inflated value.
I'm no economist, but- it seems that the market would have recovered on it's own when the housing market stopped listing so badly. You know- without an urgent $800 Billion of taxpayer money.
Now Cali and about 14 other Liberal states are letting their candymen in DC know that they'll be wanting a reward for fucking up their states financial operations.
...And Congress will be more than happy to throw another $50-or-so Billion down the crapper.

That's good to know, anyway
Your result for The Would You Have Been a Nazi Test...
The Resistance
Achtung! You are 38% brainwashworthy, 32% antitolerant, and 43% blindly patriotic
Welcome to the Resistance (Der Widerstand)! You believe in freedom, justice, equality, and your country, and you can't be converted to the the dark side.
Breakdown: your Blind Patriotism levels are borderline unhealthy, but you show such a love of people from everywhere and a natural resistance to brainwashing, you would probably focus your energy to fight the Fuehrer with furor, so to speak.
Conclusion: born and raised in Germany in the early 1930's, you would have taken up ARMS against the oppressors. Or even your friends' oppressors. Congratulations!
Less than 5% of all test takers earn a spot in the Resistance!

Thanks Congress
You just proved to every American that can rub two brain cells together that we have effecivly surrendered any shred of self control we ever had.
In this Socialistic vein I give you the new standard of American politics:
Assholes!
I will never vote for anyone that's been an incumbant in ANY political office this time around.
And Vincent Harris....that means your boy, too- in spite of that B.S. e-mail I got "explaining" why John Cornyn voted for that pork filled bail-out bill.
keep on doing this to the Free World!
Why not just vote Obama and get it over with quickly?
Why even try top act like anyone cares about what's BEST for America when socialization is they way everyone is going.

Ok, I just lost what little faith I had
In ANYONE up in DC doing what's (supposedly) right for America, instead of gratuitously throwing tax money awy for political expedience.
Both of the Texas Senators voted for this porkbarrel-disguised-as-a-bailout-bill they concocted yesterday. Instead of saying, 'Whoa, that $700,000,000,000 is kida pricy for the taxpayer, lets see if we REALLY need it"; our *betters* decided to load it down with an additional BILLION or so in unrelated pork.
Because that's how things get done up in DC. It's not real moey, ya know- we can always print more.
Hell, none of them are worth representing us anymore, and since the election is only a month away, lets see if we can vote them ALL out and start over with an entierly new slate. We've seen what "experience" in DC politics get us- lets try common sense now.
As an addendum to this "MUST-PASS-OR AMERICA WILL IMPLODE" meme from DC, I heard lots of people on Rush today- and a bank loan officer telling that there is plenty of money available for those with good credit.
I'm also still waiting for the complete implosion of all things financial,,,I guess Wall St. didn't get the meme that they were supposed to crater two weeks ago when the first massive porkladen bailout bill didn't pass.
I wish I had the money to load up on discounted stocks right now.
Anyway, lets see if we can get something going to VOTE THEM ALL OUT!.
I rtefuse to vote for any incumbant this time around.
No matter what their party is- they just proved they're not representing ME.
Both of the Texas Senators voted for this porkbarrel-disguised-as-a-bailout-bill they concocted yesterday. They say
That the dog that yelps is the one that got hit.
Why has Barney Frank become the spokesflack for this taxpayer financedgiveaway bailout scam?
What's in it for him? I haven't really heard about him making out like Barak Obama or Chris Dodd in the payola-by-.gov-companies...and his chief financial advisers- the ones who used the ENRON school of accounting.
I know he was instrumental in poo-pooing the findings on both Fanny May and Freddy Mac back in the day, but is that all he's covering for?
We'll never know, will we? Because there will never be any hearings or criminal investigations because the vast majority of this mess has Democrat roots, and their fingerprints are all over the shovels used to bury it.

Note to self
A .22lr is *really* loud at night, be sure to reload with .22 shorts in dealing with the next feral cat problem.
Not a bad shot though, right behind the shoulder blade at about 35 YDs under a security light.
Now maybe I can stop electrifying my garbage cans.

According to the BEEB
The UN and it's assorted supporters from Bono to Bill Gates want to "do SOMETHING!!!" about malaria, and so they have ponied up $3 billion to eradicate malaria.
Boy, that's a lot of mosquito netting. Too bad it's only useful if you're not out and about living your daily life.
I didn't see anything about actually eradicating the root of the problem since all those Libs have glommed onto a book full of lies about DDT and the effects of other useful chemicals. We'd rather spend billions on developing a vaccine that is only useful against one disease instead of cutting off the vector of an assortment human and animal illnesses.
But, then again, it's not the results Libs look for- it's the feeling of "doing SOMETHING"- no matter how it really turns out.

A quick question on this bailout
Of this gov't takeover of the financial industry is soooo good, why don't the Dems just ram it through Congress?
They have a big enough majority in both houses to do it.
Could it be that it's not really that good, and they want Republicans signed on too so they can take the blame when it craters, too?
And speaking of blame,,,,why haven't SanFran Nan and Harry Reid called for another Republican witch hunt on this fiasco? Maybe because it's mostly a Democrat led plundering?
