TxDOT has every f*cking interstate interchange blocked down to one lane (from 3-5) SB I-35 to NB I-10 is always a hassle. Add in the onramps and cones and it really sucks. We were probably doing 5 MPH if we were moving at all.
Siri didn't show shit about the road work that obviously been going on for a while.
I'm glad I budgeted a little over an hour and a half to get to Audie Murphy.
After I got done, I decided to stay on EB I-10 to Seguin.
Why da fuq are 4-wheelers so married to the lane they're in that it takes cones to force them into a different lane.
I got into the open lane early and left a good 100 feet in front of me, but nobody was even interested until the f*cking HAD to merge.
AND they still have 15 miles of I-10 they're working on on the way to Seguin.
Oh, and we're looking at an MRI and probably rotator cuff surgery.
I don't know about San Antonio, but many TxDot projects in large cities won't allow lane closures during the day on major highways, except in an emergency. It helps, but my experience of working at night on TxDot projects didn't leave me wanting more. Traffic is lighter, but the night critters don't drive as well, and when the bars close it can get a little crazy.
ReplyDeleteThe last few times IH-10 was the shortest route shown on maps, I deliberately avoided it near San Antonio. When going west, I bailed at Sequin. When going east, I bailed at Boerne.
IH-10 is a CF east of San Antonio. i watched two cars merge into one big crash right in front of me a few weeks back. Thought the oversize load behind me was going to mash me like a bug. But I drive like an old man and had plenty of room to stop then squeeze past the entire mess. Stay alert. Find alternate routes.
