This-

Right here is why I hate letting the F-250s fuel tank get below half full.
Plus it's easier on the fuel pump.

I don't know wtf is going on with fuel prices this year. It used to be they'd go up and stay for a while and change back down for a while, but this year it seems like every time I go into town, the price has swung 30 cents in a day or two.

  1. Well, I hear you. In Commie Connecticut the price is about $2.83 to $3.10.
Not to bad here, of course I’m only putting in about 10 gallons/2 weeks!!
I definitely would not want to pump that quantity.
Retirement pays off in funny ways…

    1. To be honest, I've been driving around with the same tank for about 2-3 months.
I use the (little) Silverado for going to town.

I hear you on retirement. I'm not doing a 90 mile round trip every day and didn't miss any money when I stopped filling up twice a week.

  2. The lowest here had been stuck on $2.89 for months. This week it dropped six whole pennies.

  3. Isn't it something that after the refinery fire of a couple months ago, the price didn't budge.
Usually a refinery shutdown results in mayhem at the pump.

Maybe you in TX is more sensitive to whatever fluctuations. Why? I don't know why. What are your prices for alfalfa bales doing?

    1. Our donkeys and horses get coastal round bales and our supplier has them for $120 for a small bale that I can roll out of the bed by backing.

The big one in the top pic is his big roll for about $130.

  4. The least you would have paid for that 35.819 gallons near my home (NorCal) is $173.72. That's $4.85 a gallon.

A little perspective always helps one to appreciate what one has.

    1. Our fuel goes from 3.75 to up to 5.30 in cities. That is just for 87 octane. The diesel goes for 4.50 up to 6.25 in the cities around where I live. I was hoping when Mr. Trump got in that the prices would drop by 3 to 4 dollars, so far, no dice. I wonder how he did it the first time he was in?
By the way thanks for letting me comment on your blog. I hope my comments are mostly peaceful. LOLOLO

  5. I bought a 3/4 ton has truck from my best friend about 6 years ago. It gets about 10 ½ mpg. After I had it a couple of weeks we were talking about it and he said "That's about right. That's what I was getting."
After that I quit looking and just pumped...6 years later I like how it's held up to my level of use and abuse. I've broken so many small trucks it's hilarious. This old Chevy 3/4 ton with lousy fuel economy has been just about the best work truck I've ever had.

  6. Surge Pricing. Costs more during the day when more people are pumping.
