After action report on Operation Deep Freeze

 We were doing fine last week on bottled propane- because some dumbass forgot to check the big tank outside- until they started rolling blackouts.
We had enough through rotations of the bottles and refilling them that the tank top heaters kept the rooms the were in warm.

The water pump froze up when they shut off  power.
After the first thaw, I fixed the broken fitting going into the pressure tank.

And we had water for us and the horses.
Sometime after, we noticed A LOT of air purging the lines.... more than just normal air working it's way out.
Since everything is soaking through where the water comes into the house at the lower 1/2 bath- I'm betting (hoping) that it's leaking where the hose bib froze solid.

I'll be able to go in through the outside wall and save fixing the drywall right behind the commode.

You can see the water soaking through the 3/4 70 year old plywood.

Right now my stocks over at Robbing Hood are worth a little over 3 times what I paid for them.
I could just have them transferred to my broker at the bank and just ride the slide and hop for the best.

OR

I could sell all but Tesla and Workhorse and pay the Xiden taxes next year.

I'm really leaning towards selling before 0bama 2.0 bottoms the stock market out.

-But the stock market doesn't really reflect the economy- *insert eye roll smiley here*

My Navy enlistment story

 

When I went shopping at recruiters- I already knew I wasn't Gung-Ho enough to be a Marine.

 

Army- We can get you anything you want in Combat arms- and a HUGE signing bonus.

Me- What about the Corp of Engineers?

Army- HUGE signing bonus- Combat arms!

Me- Ummmm, no...........

 

Air Force- (this was early 80's) Basic training DORMS!!!!!

Me- What about Red Horse?

AF- DORMS! Look at what they put you in in the Army and Marines-> shows pics of WWII barracks<- and they have A/C!

Me- What about Red Horse?

Navy-

Me- I want to be a Builder.

Me- Builder, a SeaBee. My grandfather was one in WWII.

Me- >bus ride down to Chi-town and then a crappy hotel before being woken for the bus ride to MEPS and a. LOT. of. waiting. then bus ride back<

Navy- Good news. you got an 87 and we can offer you a lot of jobs.

Your choice- Nuke, Radar Direction Finder (GM+) some kind of Airedale or CE.

Me- But I want to be a Builder.

Navy- Dude, you scored too high, there's a lot of openings for CE and better advancement. Besides, they're still Seabees.

Me- Okay >did the MEPS thing again and off to Great Mistakes in a MLB sponsored company<
