My wasted Saturday

>
So I had to exchange my oxygen and acetylene tanks today at Tractor Supply because the welding shop was closed.

Got back and hooked up the regulators and found out the O2 was empty.... because I was a dumbass and didn't crack the valve before I loaded them up.

So, while I'm still in town, we stop at Taco Bell for a burrito supreme so I can eat it after the tank is hooked up.

But I had friends-

It's been over a month since I last posted?

We're three drivers short and everyone is working at least 56 hours a week and we've been doing it since about mid-December and no change in site.

I work nights, so the three days I'm off are taken with catching up on sleep, washing clothes and shopping.
The only thing I've gotten accomplished is getting the mast for the post driver welded up and the washer pump for the new Chevy stopped working Weds, so I need to do a PiTA job that involves partly removing the inner fender to get to the bottom bolts and access the back sit of the reservoir because GM couldn't have it easily replaceable.

So until later-

Have some horse kisses

Cold, wet weather

Some horses don't like it.

While others enjoy it

Nothing worth blogging about

Go play a fishing game

Yeah, it's Joe Cartoon and all his juvenile, but fun games.

So it looks like we have another permanent guest.

Her name is Felicity and she was supposed to be here while our farrier was training her.
Things kinda went sideways in her life and we haven't heard from her in over two months.

Right now we have her in solitary with little Snowball so we can work with her- she's flighty and nervous from previous handling.
It looks like we had a bit of a breakthrough with the clicker training (and grain)yesterday, so I got to fix her halter so it's behind both ears at least.

Today she came to the fence, but turned her back too me--so I started scratching her butt.
She didn't know what to think at first, but decided she liked it.

Until I started to walk away and forgot who I was petting, so I slapped her but and off she ran bucking and kicking to the end of the run.

Am I the only one who knows why Democrats are so opposed to a wall?

But they're happy to talk about "other security measures"?

A wall stops people.

  • Electronics can be turned off when attention is gone
  • It takes time for the Border Patrol to arrive
In both cases the illegal is inside our borders and so is another catch and release (if they're caught) --to never be seen again

Another thought on that wood post driver

Using an I-beam for both a post holder and driving weight.
Which would also bring down the center of gravity-

Along with that chain drive, it looks doable on either the front or back.

So I was on my way up to Austin (again)

And sitting on that parking lot called I-35 we finally crept up on the cause just north of Schertz.

It was a fully loaded work pick up with a ladder rack with about 2' worth of ladders and a box trailer that rear-ended some kind of people mover.
I don't know if it used to be a van or SUV because the entire rear end was exploded to the rear seat and it looked like an expanded hollow point.

The kid the cop was talking to couldn't have been older than his early 20's.

What a way to start a life.

Another horse got out today

So we're going to have to do something with that back fence.

I was hoping to be able to wait until at least fall before I had to make that wood post driver.
See, here we have red clay about 8" below the sand and no matter how well you tamp, the posts are always loose.

In order to solve the tripping problem for the weight, I'm looking at running the lift with a chain like this one-

What I first need to decide is the front bucket quick connect, or the tree point hitch.
The front would take out one leveling adjustment cylinder and only leave me with a sideways adjustment.
But it's only a 35 HP tractor and that 300+ pound drop weight on top of what the framework is going to be makes it pretty front heavy.

If I put it on the back, it makes it harder to line up and I'd need more adjustments to line the pole plumb.

So I was looking at the loafing shed today

It's made of recycled siding.

And thought 'maybe a little paint would help..

What can I do?
So after some measurements and g00gling  layouts and the proportions that go with it...

There's drips and gaps in the paint, but the road's over 1,200 feet away and I doubt the donkeys will mind.

All I have to do now is figure out what I'm going to do about filling the union with star like things.

So we have animals who evolved on the steppes of Russia

We live in Texas.
last week the wife decided that it was going to be too cold for them to survive without coats.

Expensive coats.

So she put coats on all she could.
Including Molly, the littlest one.

It looks like it works

And only cost what I had in landscape timber and screws.

I pushed all the wasted hay from about five $60 round bales into a pile that would probably make an entire new round bale and a half.

Hopefully they won't waste as much and take longer to eat these square bales.

Today was my Monday

And all 14 hours took the best shot at reminding me of it.
Every time I turned around.

If someone offered me a decent job, I'd quit tomorrow.

Texas elected Ted Cruz again- barely

It should have been a lot wider margin than 2.6%.

But Greg Abbot keeps begging Liberal, Blue State Carpetbaggers to move here.
And just like everywhere else the four big cities (and the coastal bend) almost overwhelmed the rest of the voters.

What can we do?
I don't know. If we can't get the Left out of their self contained echo chamber...which they move to and think they're in Texas...... they'll turn Texas into California.

I was getting gas today

And noticed another familiar site above Walmart.
When is the Left going to ever let us put this back at full mast?

Or are they?

I voted today

The parking lot in Seguin was so full that I had to park half a block away.

Then I did something I never thought I'd do.
I clicked the box to vote straight Republican.

I don't know how much my company paid for their new navgation system

It's some variation of Verizon Navigate that was cutting edge back when George W. was in his first term.

They haven't updated it much since then.
The voice sounds like her name is Phyllis and she's talking from a kitchen table in NJ with an ahtray mounded over with snubbed out butts and a 2/3 empty bottle of cheap scoth on the counter next to a sink full of dirty dishes.

She butchers every name she pronounces and you basically have to almost know where you're going to know where to go.

I was in Austin and she pronounced Caesar Chavez dead nuts on with not one mispronounced letter.

The front fell off

Because fronts aren't supposed to come off.

And you're supposed to stop digging when you get stuck.

Now we'll see what that 20 year old K3500 does.
I hope the front doesn't come off.

And neither does the transmission.........

Hey Mitch...........

Social Security is NOT an entitlement program.

Nor is Medicare.

It was raining in Austin last night

F%cking pouring actually.
AS I was on the way home from the rout it really started coming down and the entire drive through Austin on I-35 looked like some kind of major accident scene.

Because of the frigging MORONS who had to put on their hazards as soon as they turned on their wipers.
You couldn't tell if anyone was disabled, going slower or changing lanes- because every 4 wheeler on the road had their fucking flashers on.

Which idiotic blue state tells people to use their hazards in the rain?

It must be blue state Carpetbaggers because Austin is the only Texas city I've seen it done.

Seen at a Murphy's in Selma, TX

I haven't figured out the price per mile, but I'm sure it would even out- since they probably price it per BTU like we did for natural gas.

I was fueling the work truck and noticed the new blue hose...

I know mt S-10 V-6 went from about 22MPG to about 18 1/2 MPG when congress rewarded Big Ag by making us put food in our tanks.

So lets give that a try
22/ $2.92= 7.53
18.5/ $2.52= 7.34

Did I do that right?
It looks like it's about .2 cents more per mile for regular- unadulterated gas.

EDIT-

Anonymous gave me the right formula:
$/mile would be:
$2.92 / 22 = $0.133/mile, and
$2.52 / 18.5 = $0.136/mile.

Underground utility inspections

Whenever you put conduit in the ground you need to have it inspected.

Sometimes there needs to be a consultation.

The computer mind

.....Well GPS anyway,,,

You're on a 5 lane highway, about a mile away from where you lose two lanes and there's a huge back-up from two different on-ramps about 1/4 mile apart farther on

GPS-"TAKE THIS EXIT SO YOU CAN BYPASS THIS SLOWDOWN, THEN GET BACK ON AT THE NEXT ONRAMP"

Because adding to the mess on the highway will save you about 1/10th of a second.
...And sheeple do it and add to the mess already happening.
