Just an FYI to you Law Dogs out there

After reading another incident involving a semi and cops having trouble stopping him, Here's a bit of advice.

Have your shotgun rider use a shotgun to shred the hoses running from the cab to the trailer.
The blue one is the service brakes and the red one is basically the emergency brake.
If the red one loses air pressure, all eight trailer tires lock up and Sooper Trucker isn't going anywhere,

The newest member of Snakebit Acres

She still doesn't have a name, but everyone was curious-

The boys

The other mothers-to-be

Mom and daughter had some problems, because it's her first foal and the Farrier was a great help.
She had Vets numbers and a good relationship with them for mom and her mom problems.

The colt got new legs because of a tendon problem in her front knees and is learning how to walk and more importantly- to get up.

Apparently we had an addition to the herd last night

....or this morning.

Pictures to follow.

Dear Steering wheel holders

Yes you two parked side by side in the fuel island at the Love's about an hour south of San Antonio.

You were doing such a good job of living up to your companys' reputation.
Parked there next to each other from the time I pulled behind a flatbed till I got done fueling and actually was able to pull ahead and let someone else fill up while I went inside.

And still there with not a driver steering wheel holder in site when I came out- and you weren't at the fuel desk.
Maybe you were new drivers and were never told about driver courtesy, but at least you'll be seeing the good advice for you every time you walk to your ride......

The Country Line post hole digger

If you need something that will hang straight without adjusting your 3 point hitch arm 6" up- don't get this.

If you want something that will last more than 100 holes in clay- don't buy this.

I was digging the last hole for the donkey shelter when I caught that heavy clay again, so I hooked the chain between the ROPS and the power head as usual. Then revved up the tractor, (it's a little 30 horse LS) and turned on the PTO which spun the bit and dug it in farther....bogging down the engine until I turned the PTO off and on again...........with no power loss. I watched the PTO shaft spinning for all it was worth.

Oh and it was buried to the U-joint.

CRAP! I sheared that bolt on the shaft.
So I pulled out handsfull of dirt until I could get to the bolt heads that were still firmly attached.
Double CRAP.

Today I shelled out $130 for a 4 hour mini-ex rental so if I couldn't get it fixed, I could at least get it out of the hole.

Something is broke inside the gearbox.

AND, as long as I had something, I'll get water to the shelter.

You can never dig a trench without the inspectors giving their once-over.

ETA-(since I can't comment on my own blog)

B- as soon as the bit starts digging this clay that hasn't seen water since Noah's flood, it starts grabbing. It's like it's one stage away from being sandstone.

Pappa Johns pizza

With all the SJW wailing and outrage over a word they have no problem with when it's in 'music' glorifying misogyny, drugs and killing cops - I'm more than glad to spend my money there.

Plus they have $10 carryout.

And it tastes a lot better than Dominoes.

The LS tractor

I'm not sure what those initials stand for but around Snakebit acres it's starting to be the Little Shitty tractor.

First I had to bypass all the safety interlocks and run a wire from the ignition to the fuel solenoid so it would start and run.

Now it decided I need to use a screwdriver to get the starter working.

Tennon

Knee braces on the loafing shed/carport

Yeah, I forgot to cut the bottom of the 2x4 flat, but the tennon won't be trapping any water, so....

Water level

Helps keep things level when you're working on a slope

And a plum-bob makes sure they're vertical.

In case you were wondering

A 1999 C/K 3500 needs a 5/32 open end wrench to loosen the negative terminal.

That way the horn shuts off because someone left the drivers window open for three days and when our thunderstorm hit- the steering wheel got wet enough to complete the horn circuit.

We're finally getting that rain that everyone in Texas has been getting all morning.

Anyone who's been rhere knows these

And I'm off to try lining up posts to make an addition to the loafing shed.

Well I'm in Facebook jail again.

So maybe I'll be more active on this crappy little blog if anyone out there still follows anyone anymore.

What I've been doing while ignoring this blog is working, trying to get Snakebit Acres looking like someone actually cares about it.
The wife (who's now an American citizen) got the paperwork to make us a non-profit donkey rescue and we have 8 donkeys of all sizes, the 8 mini horses she came home with when the donkey she was originally going to rescue died.

And her chickens.

I finally got the welding trailer made- out of scrap metal and the fire suppression system actually works. It'll work better when I get that new bung nut and can tighten the lower fittings without stripping the threads.

Now that I have a usable welder I can make a new flatbed for the one ton, try to figure how to make a wood post driver for the tractor and weld up the pipe for the new fence (which is why I wanted a fire suppression system).

Anyway, that's about all for the updates.
Crappy writing and stupid political posts on the horizon- maybe.

You shall not pass!

The two mammoth donkeys- Bella and Savannah with Bandit in the middle and little Clementine in the back.

Now that Trump's the president, do you think the EPA will roll back those windshield washer fluid regs, so we can get something that actually works again?

More Donkeys

More rescues... they were from the same herd.

Clementine just got done and Ludwig is now taking his dust bath.

Life gets in the way

The reasons for my lack of postings.
We bought a farm in Seguin, TX with a 50 year old 600SF farmhouse.
It was on stilts and I enclosed it after work.

This is what it looked like before-

The only "during" I have on this computer

Annnd almost finished
THEN, after we moved house and talked to a Realtor about the double-wide in Hondo,,,we found out that we had to upgrade it or lose $10K to a flipper.

So I'm in the process of redoing that with new windows, drywall and texture (And electric as needed) when I get time after work,,,,,, IF I'm working on that side of town.

FYI- The USS Constitution

Is the only commissioned warship on the U.S. Naval inventory that has ever sunk an enemy ship in battle.

Let that sink in.

Dear Tim McGraw

I've known since the `90s that you and Faith were big Democrat supporters and stood behind the Clinton White House.
Now, with your concert to fund gun-grabbers by using Sandy Hook as some kind of.... hook.
Everyone is tarting to see your hypocrisy.

But aside from your Liberal hopes- I just wanted you to see what I bought with all the money I didn't spend on yours or Faith Hills music.

Purdy li'l thing isn't it?
All shiny and new and ready to put some Bambie meat on the table.

BaG Day buy

A shiny gun and a box... who can resist?

And all the girls had to check out the shiny, too.

Monday, April 13, 2015

Just out of curiosity...

Is April 15 still BaG day, or not?

Because if it's not, I'll hold off on picking up the new Henry until it's more convenient for me- being as it's some 80 miles from either house...

But,,,Henry-

Update on the .22 that tried

Actually I don't know if I even mentioned getting that little Henry .22 with a scope from the pawn shop a year or-so ago.

Whoever had that gun before me had some seriously jacked eyes or firing position.
From 25 yards I couldn't even hit a 2foot square box.

Then I brought it in to about 15' and was shooting about 6" high and about 4 to the left.
After about half a box of ammo, I'm now hitting about 1" right and stringing them vertically just above the electric tap cross on the mud box at 25 yards.

It's getting too dark and mosquito-ey for any more.

I'll be picking up the BaG Henry in .357 Weds after work in Boerne, TX half an hour north of the job site I'm working at now and 90 min from home.
