Carpe Donktum won the internet last Monday

With his tweet thread of Trump tweeting a horse picture.

Trump Tweets this Picture:

MAGA: THIS IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL HORSE THAT WAS EVER CREATED
LIBS: YOU SHOULD BE IN JAIL, THE HORSE DESERVES BETTER
CNN BREAKING NEWS: President Trump tweeted a horse that was probably thinking bad thoughts, our panel discusses after the break.

MSNBC: President Trump tweeted a picture of an Arabian horse, clearly a dog whistle to his Islamophobic base
Feminist Twitter: Why does the horse have to be a male? This is just another example of Trumps war on women.
Huffington Post: How Stallions are hurting transhorses.

Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico

The base has been closed for about 20 years now IIRR. I'm sure I found the Seabee base, or what's left of it.
Where we were housed in H-Co. (I was working CTR on that deployment) was right down from the beach and you could see that little island in the lower right corner almost lined up with where the old beach was.

CTR, MLO and another warehouse is at the upper left under that cross shaped building. The plowed field is where the barracks were and the galley was one of those big buildings where the plowing stops.

Something you'd probably never think of putting in a bugout bag

I've got them in my truck and use them around the farm, but never thought about them in a SHIF situation.

I need to look up the orange one and the blue one with the knots.
Also, cowboys used bigger bamndanas, I'm sure I can find some.

I blew out the meniscus in both knees and have been off on Workers comp because the restrictions they put on me.

Why are they afraid of a shock test?

I have to admit that when I think of Jerry Ford -I channel Chevy Chase back when SNL was funny.

But there has to be something seriously wrong when they want to blow-off a requirement for acceptance.

The Four rules of gun safety

  • A gun is always loaded
  • Keep your finger off the trigger till you're ready to fire
  • Never let the muzzle cover something you don't want to destroy
  • Be sure of your target and what's behind it

Poor Chloe...

Let me tell you a little bit about Chloe.
Chloe only had a calf every 3rd year and when she did it was 16h 375# chronic at weaning.
Chloe was always the last cow into the lot and before you got the gate shut she would take half the herd with her to the back side of the section.
Chloe was the only cow that could jump out of the tub and did it at will.
Chloe would always flip up side down and choke her self out in the chute.
Chloe was always the last cow to sort off the calves, while she had you standing on the top rail.
Chloe has ruined more gates than when your wife feeds with the tractor with duals.
Chloe was the reason the butterfly doors on the ground load had welding on them.
Chloe was the reason for half the dents in the feed truck and why the 4 wheeler is missing fenders and doesn't drive straight anymore.
Chloe crippled more horses than the race tracks.
Chloe was the inspiration for the invention of half top trailers, 50' 7/16 ropes, ranch hand bumpers, red heeler dogs, and dart guns.
Chloe is the reason there is the human cage in the sale ring at the sale barn.
Chloe bring .21 cents at the sale barn.....

First we have the ilustrious Rep. Hank Johnson (D) Asking about overpopulating Guam

You really have to understand the clown posse in Congress not to burst out laughing here- BZ Admiral.

BUT  he was right according to the totally non-satirical Duffleblog:

"...Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.), who has long expressed concerns that DoD activity on Guam could put the geological stability of the island at risk, told reporters he was furious no one had paid attention to his warnings.
“Our hearts go out to the Guamese—Guamians? Guamoans? Whatever. The Guamericans and the military personnel now lost,” he said. “But make no mistake: The Department of Defense’s reckless mismanagement of the island’s weight and balance caused this tragic disaster.” ..."

My wasted Saturday

>
So I had to exchange my oxygen and acetylene tanks today at Tractor Supply because the welding shop was closed.

Got back and hooked up the regulators and found out the O2 was empty.... because I was a dumbass and didn't crack the valve before I loaded them up.

So, while I'm still in town, we stop at Taco Bell for a burrito supreme so I can eat it after the tank is hooked up.

But I had friends-

It's been over a month since I last posted?

We're three drivers short and everyone is working at least 56 hours a week and we've been doing it since about mid-December and no change in site.

I work nights, so the three days I'm off are taken with catching up on sleep, washing clothes and shopping.
The only thing I've gotten accomplished is getting the mast for the post driver welded up and the washer pump for the new Chevy stopped working Weds, so I need to do a PiTA job that involves partly removing the inner fender to get to the bottom bolts and access the back sit of the reservoir because GM couldn't have it easily replaceable.

So until later-

So it looks like we have another permanent guest.

Her name is Felicity and she was supposed to be here while our farrier was training her.
Things kinda went sideways in her life and we haven't heard from her in over two months.

Right now we have her in solitary with little Snowball so we can work with her- she's flighty and nervous from previous handling.
It looks like we had a bit of a breakthrough with the clicker training (and grain)yesterday, so I got to fix her halter so it's behind both ears at least.

Today she came to the fence, but turned her back too me--so I started scratching her butt.
She didn't know what to think at first, but decided she liked it.

Until I started to walk away and forgot who I was petting, so I slapped her but and off she ran bucking and kicking to the end of the run.

Am I the only one who knows why Democrats are so opposed to a wall?

But they're happy to talk about "other security measures"?

A wall stops people.

  • Electronics can be turned off when attention is gone
  • It takes time for the Border Patrol to arrive
In both cases the illegal is inside our borders and so is another catch and release (if they're caught) --to never be seen again

Another thought on that wood post driver

Using an I-beam for both a post holder and driving weight.
Which would also bring down the center of gravity-

Along with that chain drive, it looks doable on either the front or back.

Saturday, January 05, 2019

So I was on my way up to Austin (again)

And sitting on that parking lot called I-35 we finally crept up on the cause just north of Schertz.

It was a fully loaded work pick up with a ladder rack with about 2' worth of ladders and a box trailer that rear-ended some kind of people mover.
I don't know if it used to be a van or SUV because the entire rear end was exploded to the rear seat and it looked like an expanded hollow point.

The kid the cop was talking to couldn't have been older than his early 20's.

What a way to start a life.

Tuesday, January 01, 2019

Another horse got out today

So we're going to have to do something with that back fence.

I was hoping to be able to wait until at least fall before I had to make that wood post driver.
See, here we have red clay about 8" below the sand and no matter how well you tamp, the posts are always loose.

In order to solve the tripping problem for the weight, I'm looking at running the lift with a chain like this one-

What I first need to decide is the front bucket quick connect, or the tree point hitch.
The front would take out one leveling adjustment cylinder and only leave me with a sideways adjustment.
But it's only a 35 HP tractor and that 300+ pound drop weight on top of what the framework is going to be makes it pretty front heavy.

If I put it on the back, it makes it harder to line up and I'd need more adjustments to line the pole plumb.
