So I was looking at the loafing shed today

It's made of recycled siding.

And thought 'maybe a little paint would help..

What can I do?
So after some measurements and g00gling  layouts and the proportions that go with it...

There's drips and gaps in the paint, but the road's over 1,200 feet away and I doubt the donkeys will mind.

All I have to do now is figure out what I'm going to do about filling the union with star like things.

So we have animals who evolved on the steppes of Russia

We live in Texas.
last week the wife decided that it was going to be too cold for them to survive without coats.

Expensive coats.

So she put coats on all she could.
Including Molly, the littlest one.

It looks like it works

And only cost what I had in landscape timber and screws.

I pushed all the wasted hay from about five $60 round bales into a pile that would probably make an entire new round bale and a half.

Hopefully they won't waste as much and take longer to eat these square bales.

Today was my Monday

And all 14 hours took the best shot at reminding me of it.
Every time I turned around.

If someone offered me a decent job, I'd quit tomorrow.

Texas elected Ted Cruz again- barely

It should have been a lot wider margin than 2.6%.

But Greg Abbot keeps begging Liberal, Blue State Carpetbaggers to move here.
And just like everywhere else the four big cities (and the coastal bend) almost overwhelmed the rest of the voters.

What can we do?
I don't know. If we can't get the Left out of their self contained echo chamber...which they move to and think they're in Texas...... they'll turn Texas into California.

I was getting gas today

And noticed another familiar site above Walmart.
When is the Left going to ever let us put this back at full mast?

Or are they?

Nosey horses

Just Molly and mom checking out the phone-

Wednesday, October 24, 2018

I voted today

The parking lot in Seguin was so full that I had to park half a block away.

Then I did something I never thought I'd do.
I clicked the box to vote straight Republican.

I don't know how much my company paid for their new navgation system

It's some variation of Verizon Navigate that was cutting edge back when George W. was in his first term.

They haven't updated it much since then.
The voice sounds like her name is Phyllis and she's talking from a kitchen table in NJ with an ahtray mounded over with snubbed out butts and a 2/3 empty bottle of cheap scoth on the counter next to a sink full of dirty dishes.

She butchers every name she pronounces and you basically have to almost know where you're going to know where to go.

I was in Austin and she pronounced Caesar Chavez dead nuts on with not one mispronounced letter.

The front fell off

Because fronts aren't supposed to come off.

And you're supposed to stop digging when you get stuck.

Now we'll see what that 20 year old K3500 does.
I hope the front doesn't come off.

And neither does the transmission.........

Hey Mitch...........

Social Security is NOT an entitlement program.

Nor is Medicare.

It was raining in Austin last night

F%cking pouring actually.
AS I was on the way home from the rout it really started coming down and the entire drive through Austin on I-35 looked like some kind of major accident scene.

Because of the frigging MORONS who had to put on their hazards as soon as they turned on their wipers.
You couldn't tell if anyone was disabled, going slower or changing lanes- because every 4 wheeler on the road had their fucking flashers on.

Which idiotic blue state tells people to use their hazards in the rain?

It must be blue state Carpetbaggers because Austin is the only Texas city I've seen it done.

Seen at a Murphy's in Selma, TX

I haven't figured out the price per mile, but I'm sure it would even out- since they probably price it per BTU like we did for natural gas.

I was fueling the work truck and noticed the new blue hose...

I know mt S-10 V-6 went from about 22MPG to about 18 1/2 MPG when congress rewarded Big Ag by making us put food in our tanks.

So lets give that a try
22/ $2.92= 7.53
18.5/ $2.52= 7.34

Did I do that right?
It looks like it's about .2 cents more per mile for regular- unadulterated gas.

EDIT-

Anonymous gave me the right formula:
$/mile would be:
$2.92 / 22 = $0.133/mile, and
$2.52 / 18.5 = $0.136/mile.

The computer mind

.....Well GPS anyway,,,

You're on a 5 lane highway, about a mile away from where you lose two lanes and there's a huge back-up from two different on-ramps about 1/4 mile apart farther on

GPS-"TAKE THIS EXIT SO YOU CAN BYPASS THIS SLOWDOWN, THEN GET BACK ON AT THE NEXT ONRAMP"

Because adding to the mess on the highway will save you about 1/10th of a second.
...And sheeple do it and add to the mess already happening.

I thought you were supposed to be able to find anything on AlBores intratoobz

I've been looking for a good three hours on how the furling mechanism works on a water/farm windmill.
All I can find is a general description of how and why it works, or how to do it on wind generators.
It's centuries old technology that nobody wants to describe how it works. Even a parts breakdown doesn't show it all and the ONLY helpful description was on a side thread from some old time quilting site.

CCR and modern politics

On one side we have the Normals (as Kurt Schlichter like to refer to us) reacting to the election of Trump

And on the other, the ones that hoped Felonia Von Pantsuit (HT Kurt again) and their vision of America

Or just enjoy some good music...

It's dead Jim.........

Yeah the sick donk is dead.

Now I'll have to figure out a way to drag it out of the garden without fucking up my fences or gate too badly.

And pay for a backhoe.

Why I don't associate with Liberal- a personal experience

The wife has some liberal friends, she told one of them about kill pens and so- being a Liberal -she had to "do something".

So she went and bought three donkeys somewhere north of Dallas.

She told the wife "I think I bought three donkeys."
Wife: "You think you bought three donkeys?"
Lib: "I did buy three donkeys."

The wife was told where they were and to go get them.
-no gas money
-no pre-notice to anyone *this is important**
- only a vague address to where they were to be picked up.

So when the donkey finally get to Snakebit Acres and in the garden- to quarantine ours from whatever they could be carrying...........

We find out that the place they were supposed to go wouldn't take them--- because SHE DIDN'T ASK PERMISSION!

So Wife found two (or three) adoptors...IF they're healthy enough.

One is down with some kind of respiratory problem and another one has the same symptoms.

Now I'm going to have to rent a backhoe--one short notice to bury one of them on my dime.
And another one when the next one dies........... on my own dime and probably have to take off from work to do it.

...............Because that Liberal did "something" and has washed her hands of the results.

Butshe feels good about it- which is all that matters.

Which is all that matters whenever a Liberal does "something" to help----- and generally makes things worse.

But at least they feel good about "doing something".

Too good not tp share

Ended up with a new phone

The wife's 2 year old phone died so we got a "better" deal if we got two, so I got rid of the good one I had for almost five years but was slowing down and having microphone problems.

I'll be off line for the next couple hours trying to figure out the best way to use it.

Sigh................

Labor Day driving

From Austin to Corpus Christi- these last two days- it's like someone took a gunnysack of assholes have it a couple good shakes to piss them off, dropped car keys in and dumped them out along the roads......

I'm seeing these tributes to John McCain

And it seems like they forgot how he's been stabbing Republicans in the back for the last 35 years or so.

Not to mention the Keeting 5 scandal and his amnesty for illegals Gang of 8 among other things.
I'm glad you're gone and maybe AZ will send someone close to a conservative to DeeCee next.

It never hurts to doublecheck

So I got the tune up parts for the one ton and the guy told me the plugs took a .040 gap ans wrote it on the box.

After getting the first plug out and seeing the huge gap, I checked it and got .075.
It turns out that a 350 Chevy needs a .060 gap.

EDIT-
Or not.
Apparently there was a TSB that changed the gap to .040. I guess the Chevy dealership will be getting a call tomorrow.

Single payer healthcare- the Leftist dream

I've been playing phone tag most of the morning with the VA to make an appointment
I finally got transferred to where I 'think' I'm supposed to be.

I've been listening to it ringing for a good 10 minutes.

If the .GOV is falling down so badly on some 6 million people, how do Liberals expect it to take care of 350+ million?

Monday, August 13, 2018

The treasonous Peter Strzok got fired today- finally

Sp someone in that swamp decided to make a Go Fund Me page.

The Fellow Traveler who set it up wants $150,000 for his legal bills and lifestyle and in six hours have met 1/3 of that goal with a lot of anonymous $100 donations.

Too bad nobody cared that much about his victims.

I think Trump needs to talk to Mueller

Just as long as he can get the same terms as the unelected (yet) Hillary Clinton got.

The same people who ruined the gas can

And forced us to put food in put gas tanks because of political payback the Earth! (I lost 3.5MPG in my S-10 as soon as they did it).

Have now decided to mandate "anti-rollover" technology in big trucks.
Basically it works with sensors reading how level the bed is and adjusts air in the airbag suspension.

But we deliver liquids in your straight trucks and the suspension is working overtime to try keeping the bed level. I feel like Jerry Reed in Smokey and the Bandit jerking that steering wheel all over to keep going in a straight line.

BUT after driving with it, I'm sure the law of unintended consequences will come into play in the snow and ice as the back gets kicked around on snow and ice.

Or make a wreck even worse.....
If it leans too far, them it shoots air to the low side. Which it looks like happened here with the famous Lowe's truck wreck.

Saturday, July 28, 2018

So Kurt left for work about 2PM yesterday

And he was working a 14 hour shift in about five different Texas counties.

Why was it that he was the ONLY one on the road wanting to get close to the speed limit?

The only other person wanting to do the speed limit was a belly dump driver I followed when I got back close to Seguin.

When I enlisted in the Navy- I swore an oath

To protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic.

I swore it when I re-enlisted.

Brennen, Comey, Crapper, Szrok, Page and the rest of them also had to swear that oath which obviously meant nothing because they are the enemy that oath was talking about,

And here I was,,, wondering

Why someone under 21 was packing heat.

And the only reactions they're getting is either the kid not being in back or ZOMG how couls yu do that with a CHILD in the front seat?"
And did the Popo let her off on a weapons charge?

Just an FYI to you Law Dogs out there

After reading another incident involving a semi and cops having trouble stopping him, Here's a bit of advice.

Have your shotgun rider use a shotgun to shred the hoses running from the cab to the trailer.
The blue one is the service brakes and the red one is basically the emergency brake.
If the red one loses air pressure, all eight trailer tires lock up and Sooper Trucker isn't going anywhere,

The newest member of Snakebit Acres

She still doesn't have a name, but everyone was curious-

The boys

The other mothers-to-be

Mom and daughter had some problems, because it's her first foal and the Farrier was a great help.
She had Vets numbers and a good relationship with them for mom and her mom problems.

The colt got new legs because of a tendon problem in her front knees and is learning how to walk and more importantly- to get up.

Apparently we had an addition to the herd last night

....or this morning.

Pictures to follow.

Dear Steering wheel holders

Yes you two parked side by side in the fuel island at the Love's about an hour south of San Antonio.

You were doing such a good job of living up to your companys' reputation.
Parked there next to each other from the time I pulled behind a flatbed till I got done fueling and actually was able to pull ahead and let someone else fill up while I went inside.

And still there with not a driver steering wheel holder in site when I came out- and you weren't at the fuel desk.
Maybe you were new drivers and were never told about driver courtesy, but at least you'll be seeing the good advice for you every time you walk to your ride......

Swing Wide, It's a Fucking Trailer.

The Country Line post hole digger

If you need something that will hang straight without adjusting your 3 point hitch arm 6" up- don't get this.

If you want something that will last more than 100 holes in clay- don't buy this.

I was digging the last hole for the donkey shelter when I caught that heavy clay again, so I hooked the chain between the ROPS and the power head as usual. Then revved up the tractor, (it's a little 30 horse LS) and turned on the PTO which spun the bit and dug it in farther....bogging down the engine until I turned the PTO off and on again...........with no power loss. I watched the PTO shaft spinning for all it was worth.

Oh and it was buried to the U-joint.

CRAP! I sheared that bolt on the shaft.
So I pulled out handsfull of dirt until I could get to the bolt heads that were still firmly attached.
Double CRAP.

Today I shelled out $130 for a 4 hour mini-ex rental so if I couldn't get it fixed, I could at least get it out of the hole.

Something is broke inside the gearbox.

AND, as long as I had something, I'll get water to the shelter.

You can never dig a trench without the inspectors giving their once-over.

ETA-(since I can't comment on my own blog)

B- as soon as the bit starts digging this clay that hasn't seen water since Noah's flood, it starts grabbing. It's like it's one stage away from being sandstone.

Pappa Johns pizza

With all the SJW wailing and outrage over a word they have no problem with when it's in 'music' glorifying misogyny, drugs and killing cops - I'm more than glad to spend my money there.

Plus they have $10 carryout.

And it tastes a lot better than Dominoes.

The LS tractor

I'm not sure what those initials stand for but around Snakebit acres it's starting to be the Little Shitty tractor.

First I had to bypass all the safety interlocks and run a wire from the ignition to the fuel solenoid so it would start and run.

Now it decided I need to use a screwdriver to get the starter working.

Knee braces on the loafing shed/carport

Yeah, I forgot to cut the bottom of the 2x4 flat, but the tennon won't be trapping any water, so....

As mentioned before, we had rain

We also have six mini horses.

The one in front used to be white and his girlfriend used to be brown and white...

Water level

Helps keep things level when you're working on a slope

And a plum-bob makes sure they're vertical.

In case you were wondering

A 1999 C/K 3500 needs a 5/32 open end wrench to loosen the negative terminal.

That way the horn shuts off because someone left the drivers window open for three days and when our thunderstorm hit- the steering wheel got wet enough to complete the horn circuit.

We're finally getting that rain that everyone in Texas has been getting all morning.

Anyone who's been rhere knows these

And I'm off to try lining up posts to make an addition to the loafing shed.

Tuesday, July 03, 2018

Well I'm in Facebook jail again.

So maybe I'll be more active on this crappy little blog if anyone out there still follows anyone anymore.

What I've been doing while ignoring this blog is working, trying to get Snakebit Acres looking like someone actually cares about it.
The wife (who's now an American citizen) got the paperwork to make us a non-profit donkey rescue and we have 8 donkeys of all sizes, the 8 mini horses she came home with when the donkey she was originally going to rescue died.

And her chickens.

I finally got the welding trailer made- out of scrap metal and the fire suppression system actually works. It'll work better when I get that new bung nut and can tighten the lower fittings without stripping the threads.

Now that I have a usable welder I can make a new flatbed for the one ton, try to figure how to make a wood post driver for the tractor and weld up the pipe for the new fence (which is why I wanted a fire suppression system).

Anyway, that's about all for the updates.
Crappy writing and stupid political posts on the horizon- maybe.
