I notice that gas prices took a nickle jump yesterday

I wonder what kind of trouble made that happen?
It couldn't be the news that in Iraq, the attacks on the pipelines have stopped could it?

Or that the volatil oils market is reacting to the news that Iraq is producing at the highest level since the war started.

It couldn't possibly be that the oil companies are just gouging us because of the 4th of July weekend, could it?

I've layed off the oil companies because I realize the "record profits" are part of mass marketing.
The laws of supply ans demand etc... But Goddammit- enough is enough!!
Somebody needs to bitchslap those executives for profiteering, now. What the f*ck is their excuse? People will be driving on this 4 day weekend- we can really mug them now----because they don't have any options.

You may notice that the "One year ago, I was paying $1.37 for gas" is gone. That's because it's been over a year since the oil companies have been screwing us.
I told my father-in-law(a Brit), when he asked about the gas price spike- "It'll go down, it always does". Boy, I was wrong big time.
Throw 'em all in jail

Why go through the expense and effort of trying to kill our troops when you can just as effectivly take them out by accusing them of murder and rape. As an added incentive, the U.S. government will pay you for your story.

Think of it, toss up several false accusations of murder or rape and "poof-their-gone". They end up in the states shackled for 23 hours straight and end up spending hundereds of thousands of dollars defending themselves from their own chain of command.

Because, you know Terrorists would NEVER lie about something like that. Because, ya know how upright and manly they are.

Why carp about an "exit strategy" when all combat troops will be in prison making lawyers rich by defending themselves against false charges.

In today's feature on the imbecile animal rights front- we have a lawsuit to stop the Navy using sonar.

Environmental groups sued the federal government Wednesday to prevent the Navy from using active sonar during drills off Hawaii next month, saying the sound could harm whales and other marine mammals. The Natural Resources Defense Council asked a federal court in Los Angeles to issue a temporary restraining order unless the Navy takes "effective measures" to protect marine life when it uses high-intensity, mid-frequency active sonar to hunt submarines in the drills.

-snip-

The permit comes after NOAA said in April that Navy use of sonar during maritime exercises off Hawaii in 2004 may have contributed to the mass stranding of more than 150 whales. The report, however, did not say definitively that the sonar caused the whales to gather in the bay. The Navy agreed to several measures to limit the impact its sonar might have on whales and dolphins, including not using active sonar in coastal waters — except in channels between some of the islands — and lowering the sonar's power when marine mammals are nearby.

So, sonar is the (probable) cause of mass beachings? What was the cause before WWII?
Besides, the world is getting noisier. I have to put up with the @ssholes that insist on shaking my truck with their f*cking 25"speakers, the whales can learn to live with sonar.
Ahhhh, the wonders of having NO expectations

I just got home.
I took the garbage to the street- I left the two cans behind the big truck when I left(as a signal that they needed to go). I didn't expect anyone except me top do it. I wasn't wrong.

I got into the house and was greeted with an empty Tombstone cardboard. Figures; I mean- really- who wants to come home at gawd-only-knows-what-time of the morning, and wants to eat and go to bed? Now I'm here waiting for the hamburger to cook down, so I can turn it into hamburger helper. Why should I complain? Mom worked 8 hours and the three girls didn't think about even cleaning the cutting board they used to make that nasty guacamole- it's been two days that I've been throwing both cutting boards into the sink--just to find the filthy things sitting on the counter yet again.
The dishwasher is almost empty, but the dishes are piled in the sink.

The girls are going to England for 4 weeks (I think) and mom is going for two.
it'll be nice to batch for a while- things stay clean when you clean them. Things don't just-end up- lost, or broken, or filthy- and nobody knows what happened.

When I'm by myself, I clean what I make dirty, and actually put it away.
If the garbage is full, I take it out- not ignore the crap that's falling on the floor.
I clean the stove when I make a mess.
I put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher and don't turn it on when there's 6 f*cking things in it.
I can look at the outside waterbowl, and actually fill it when it's dry.
I wipe up my spills, so I don't have my feet sticking to the floor.
When I'm batching, I'll actually be able to plan meals three days ain advance--and have what I bought for it--available.

I'm anal like that. It came from the military.
Besides, I'm not a selfish, lazy teenager.

The hamburger is ready, and now we have to wait for the pasta to soften for our "Beef and Pasta" meal... ohh, and add time to let it cool down, too. Looks like about a 4AM bedtime.

Drew Curtis doesn't like this picture

I note the fact that he got the flags decription wrong (as usual).
I'd bet that you could almost wear the original Confederate flag down the streets of N'awlins-With Jesse Jackson, and nobody would raise an eyebrow, much less be "offended" at "what it represents". Hell, Jesse probably woudn't recognize it either.

The reason the other flag was used on the battlefield because the two national flags were too easy to be mistaken- with deadly results.
And in anther a shocking display of hypocrisy

the Liberals in L.A. are using their city to block the free speech of animal lovers.
That's right, they want to stop Hooters from their constitutional right of freedom of speech.

This is Hollywood we're talking about, the same people who want to force everything homosexual on everyone in America- and if you object, YOU are the problem. The same ones who have no problem (I don't either) in throwing a gratuitous female nude scene into a movie to boost sales.
Wants to censor a private business holding a fundraiser.

Boks promised a more rigorous vetting process for future fundraisers.

The fundraiser is not city-sponsored, but a promoting flier is posted on the Animal Services Web site.

The original flier showed a bikini-clad woman, but the latest version shows a dog wearing a T-shirt that says "Hooters for Neuters."

I bet they'd get more money with the babe- but that's sooooooo un-PC.

...And in a related bit of PC run amok.
In John Kerry's Mass. (he was in 'Nam, ya know?) - a Finance Committee member is in trouble for an e-mail she sent to an awards committee.
Here is the offensive language.
"Lord, that girl has sat over there with those testosterone gushers for 37 years and lived to tell about it," Arnold wrote in an e-mail dated June 16.

BUT, some were "offended" by it:
Sgt. Thomas Plourde, president of the Police Officers of Westport Alliance, said Arnold should step down. He told the Standard-Times of New Bedford that he would ask town selectmen to look into her remarks.

Her response:
"I mean, they've got biceps 10 inches around. My God," she told the newspaper. "I mean, have you seen their shoulders? They're huge. Their shirts are tight, they are busting out of them. Â… Testosterone is just a metaphor. "If I was in trouble, I'd want one of those big moose to be there," she said.

Some people are just looking to be "offended".
If this isn't enough to keep you awake tonight

You must read Steven King to your kids as bedtime stories.

We've been hearing about the "Trans-Texas Corridor" for a while, here. In our rumors, it is supposed to make it easier to go fast in central Texas, a conduit from Larado to Dallas 400 yards wide with railroads, petroleum pipelines, comm lines and all kinds of other goodies. Oh, and there will be pretty much no speed limit.

That's only part of it. Now comes the part where y'all accuse me of listening to those overnight coast-to-coast radio programs where they discuss their latest UFO abductions.

There may be a reason besides Bush being in the pockes of his contributors that he's blowing off our illegal problem. How about the North American Union with NO borders between Mexico, the U.S. and Canada? The first time a Mexican semi is inspected is in St. Louis, Mo from Baja Mexico.

See, you haven't heard about it, and no-one in Congress will admit to being involved because Bush is doing it all under the table. No oversite needed, just a tri-lateral commision where America used to be.

Ohhh, and that pesky illegal problem? It'll just go away since there are no borders anymore.

I finally got rid of my tick

I was heading homs and passed him (her?) around the I-10 and I-35 interchange.
Did you ever have someone that just *wouldn't* , no- refused to pass you no matter how slow you went? How about someone who didn't want to be left behind, so they sped up when you did?

How about this on a highway at 2:30Am with us as the only ones going west? My tick stayed with me for over 30 miles untill I turned into my subdivision.

I bet he was lonely after that- hadda turn around and head back to San Antonio just to have company.

Gawd, how depressing

How absolutely oppressive it must be to live there.

Here are a series of pictures by a Russian tourist in Uncle Kims N. Korea.

I know These won't get shown around much, since most of the MSM is infatuated with all forms of Socialist behavior. They and their fellow travelers are under the belief that the USSR fell because it didn't have their brilliant insights on how to make it work.

They fail to realize that while it might be good to be the top dog, somehow or other the bottom dog ends up on top. I realized that a long time ago, and want the same rules applied to all. These Libs seem to think that when if all these programs they want to force on us, that they'll always be getting the steak instead of the bone.
Those pics show that theirs not room at the top for everyone, and America could end up looking like that under their economic programs if they ever got into power.

Arianna Huffington

I'm sorry.
I know she's supposed to be a *cough* heavy political voice; but every time I hear her on the radio I hear this

in the back of my mind.

You're probably going to be hearing alot about this

Maybe, depends on how hot the illegal thing gets before the election.

A group of 500 has sent a letter to D.C. in support of immigration as "Immigration is the greatest anti-poverty program ever conceived."

"Not just because the immigrants are much better off, but also because they send billions of dollars of their own money back to their home countries - a form of truly effective foreign aid," concluded the 500-plus signatories of an "Open Letter on Immigration to President Bush and Congress" dispatched this week.

Ok, so we can quit throwing money away in foreign Aid?

The Open Letter on Immigration, a project of the Independent Institute, a prominent think tank headquartered in Oakland, Calif., reminds President Bush and all members of Congress of America's history as an immigrant nation. They present the overall economic and social benefits of immigration, and the power of immigration to lift the poor out of poverty: "America is a generous and open country and these qualities make America a beacon to the world. We should not let exaggerated fears dim that beacon."

I don't, and can't remember when I've heard anyone denigrate LEGAL immigrants. In general, I mean (not the Irish, Italian, German, Pole bashing that's natural when you get a bunch of funny talking ferners disrupting your nice comfortable rut).
What has America up in arms about is the flood of anti American illegal immigrants who refuse to become assimilated. Who demand special privileges, and a President and Senate who are overwilling to reward lawbreaking with citizenship- for perceived political gain.

Everyone who has the slightest familiarity with the history of America knows that we are a nation of LEGAL immigrants who came here to BECOME Americans. Remember the melting pot analogy?
Then came the "salad bowl" analogy by our balkanization proponents.

You need a melting pot to make steel- which can be used to make swords or shields to defend the vulnerable; or plows and pots to raise and nourish those same afterwards.

A salad bowl is good for one sitting before it turns to cr@p.

BTW- notice any special words missing from the letter?
How about the word ILLEGAL everytime they glorify immigrants?
The things you hear on the radio at 3AM

I just got home and was listening to the 'Best of Mike Gallagher" - you look for the link, I'm tired.
They had a section on the U-Fla .......ummmm

requiring you to swear that you were having sex with your domestic partner, in order to receive health bennies.

Two things popped into my befuddled brain.
1- Ok, now WHO were the ones accusing Republicans of invading Americas bedrooms? Wasn't it a bunch of libs?

and
2- OK , you and your bud head down to any Mexican border-town and have sex with the whores in the same room- wouldn't that be a Clintonesque way of 'having sex' with your domestic partner? I mean- C'mon you're a guy- you're of work and your Best Friend (BF from now on) has a gravy job cleaning fishtanks-- with free health, wouldn't you jump on it? I mean now-a-days it's (supposed)to be cool to be gay.

Would it be ok if he were using it "for the children"?

Here we have a greedy corperation denying a "needy" person access to their free service because he didn't buy their product. They even had the police charge him for theft of sevices.

His crime? He was using a Vancouver, Wash. cofee shop's wireless internet in the street.
Aren't these the same people who want to grab your money and redistribute it to those who "need" it more than you, because you have so much? The same kind of people who applauded the Goretax on telephones to ensure access to AlGores internet in schools?
Doesn't it go to show that he was on the wrong side of "the digital divide" and felt the need to use something provided for free on a public street?
It's not like it was morally wrong, since Libs only believe in "Situational Ethics"
instead of right and wrong. Maybe he was an honors grad from their public schools and was morally illiterate.

He also came back after the cops told him to move-on.
HAH, I knew it

Every author loves a plot twist.
Thing is, didn't she know about her sisters politics?

Can someone help me here?

See, I just read this article about global warming. It's not long, so here's the entire thing:

WASHINGTON - The Earth is the hottest it has been in at least 400 years, probably even longer. The National Academy of Sciences, reaching that conclusion in a broad review of scientific work requested by Congress, reported Thursday that the "recent warmth is unprecedented for at least the last 400 years and potentially the last several millennia."

So what I understand from that is that in 1606 (more or less) the earth was as warm as it is today. Then it had to have cooled down, so it could warm up again. Right?

Same thing goes even if it were millennia- it was as hot then as it is now.
Isn't the earth like BILLIONS of years old? How long has man have people been polluting the air with greenhouse gasses?

The question is: During the 70's we were going to all freeze to death because of the new ice age, now we're going to fry to death---------does global warming pay more than global freezing? And who's getting rich off of it?

You may find it interesting to click the link and see the fair and balanced related websites they link to.

Nothing going on in the world, I see

Nothing outrageous, or blatantly inhumane has happened anywhere in the last week, or so.
Yep, the Liberals minutemen of Iraq haven't crossed the line of decency rock bottom expectations in ages.
Whatever happens to our troops stays in Iraq- as long as some anti-American mouth doesn't accuse them of anything. Then all hell breaks loose, and the international community is up in arms about the brutality committed in the name of (your choice here).

I wonder what certain Liberal Blogs will have to say about this, since they weren't "mercenaries".
It's good, I guess that we are held to higher standards than those we're fighting. Good for them, or the entire "triangle of death" would be a smoking heap of rubble.

F*cking animals.
Isn't Britain one of those enlightened European countries

who are trying to tell us who to preserve our natural resources?

Like water, our electric generation, our factories, our energy use, etc,,,

I know of small municipalities and private two-man operations that could help the city of London do something about losing 894 million Liters a day in water.
They might have them do something almost unheard of---using water meters to help reduce water waste. They might even go to electric meters, too. You know, that evil capitalistic idea that if you use more, you pay more.

Did anyone hear about the new Cabinet post?

The White House announced it today.
I'm sure it was from alot of pressure from the rank and file conservatives.

Sunday, June 18, 2006

I see Rep. Jack Murtha (D) is using his military history- again

to tell the *coff* "deserter" Bush how to run the Iraq war.
I'd like to remind all my Liberal readers out there, and some conservative ones too. Just because you served in the military doesn't mean that NOW you have the best interests of the country at heart.

This guy was in the Army- remember him?

This guy was a Marine before Murtha

Remember him?

?

?

?

Maybe this will help

Just because you served your country when you were in your early 20's doesn't mean that you oughtta get a pass when you now are only interested in what's in it for you.
That was then, this is now. Like the old saying goes- what have you done lately?

If you're going to screw someone

on E-bay, and you're selling a laptop,,,

you really should wipe your hard drive, or the guy you tried to screw will let everyone know what a dork you are.
Hey Amire, your resume sounds like an ad in Adultfriendfinders.

I am an exciting fun guy who loves to have fun and outgoing times. I am 5ft 10 inches tall and dark brown eyes with a nice smile which people have told me. I have also short dark brown hair. I describe my figure to be athletic due to I do a lot of sports such as long distance running, soccer and tennis... I find myself to be very honest on all occasions and I can be a romantic at times. I like to make people laugh at my expense so that they aren’t uncomfortable or upset in anyway. Basically I am a very chilled guy and I always put the lady the first.

OK, the guy that bought the laptop on e-bay got screwd, and is showing what an@ss Amir is,,,direct from his hard drive.
Some parts NSFW, but feel free to e-mail Amire with the mail he left on the hard drive. I'm sure he'd love to hear from you.
And here I was told that Rugby players were sooooo, , ,

Masculine, with testosterone ooozing out their ears and all- compared to our wimpy NFL players.

Your Rugby player plays the entire game without any padding, while the average NFL player is cocooned in plastic and only plays on the Offense or Defensive teams.-And makes millions more than a Rugby player.
Your Rugby player thinks a broken shoulder is a minor impediment to his best game, an NFL player has a plastic "codpiece" and needs EMTs to help revive him from an errant knee.

Why am I bringing this up?
Because of this story about a woman streaker. Her old BF wants some of his money back (for "enhancements" he paid for), since she's getting pretty good money offers on a bikini she streaked in at a rugby match.

Now, the final paragraph is the reason for the post:
A recent auction on the site saw a NZ$50 ($31) handbag used by former All Blacks captain Tana Umaga hit a teammate in a barroom fracas fetch NZ$23,000 ($14,300).

OK? a HANDBAG????? A macho rugby players using a purse to hit his buddy with?

$1.4 billion in taxpayer money wasted.

Did that get your attention?

That's what the Katreina oversite commitee called it. (Ok, they didn't actually call it taxpayer money).

I was listening to Michael Gallagher on the way home, and he was talking about the fraud and waste involved in the hurricane Katerina fiasco.

What I want to know is, Why is anyone suprized about it?
You have the administration tripping over itself to throw money away, welfare cheats, crooked pols (the Louisiana kind), the Big News blowhards and your average bureaucratic pass-the-buck attitude.... why is ANYONE with half a brain shocked at the wastefull deluge of fraud that occurred anywhere near the event horizon of N'awlines?

The couldn't throw enough Money at the thing because the MSM couldn't be bothered to actually factcheck their sources. (We know N'awlines- if it sounds true, it probably is,,,besides why would anyone LIE to us???)

Now it's coming out about the "free" $2000 debit cards, and the profligately way the majority was spent.
I'd like to remind y'all that there wasn't really any restrictions on that money- just that you needed an address in La, preferably N'awlines.

The cities that took in the trash are going to regret that for a long time, and we, the taxpayers are going to go through it again, the very next time a welfare city is anywhere near the path of even a tropical storm..........just watch the kerfluffel.

Dems look to reward their key voters

The House is wanting to raise the minimum wage to $7.25/hr.
Because ya know, their base can't live on $10,712 per year, working those highly skilled jobs that the government schools have educated them for.

Look, the minimum wage is for people just starting out in the workforce. Cr@p- McDonalds is starting people with absolutly no experience at over $6/hr. WHO works for minimum wage anymore? Really? I know in Cali they have grorcery-baggers unions, and a check-out clerk at a supermarket is looking at their lifelong job. But here in the real America, people don't expect to be making the minimum wage when they're over say 23- even if they're still working a McJob- unless they're completly worthless.
RRRRRrrrrrrruuucy

I'm home!

Yeah, I'm working the night shift untill we (the company) move to Hondo. I just don't want to get up at 4AM to get to work at 5. I guess 6- 6:30PM untill I get 4-5 loads delivered isn't much better. But- hey I get payed! That counts alot; and at $35/load depending on how long it takes- I can make up to $20/hr. Not a bad tradeoff, besides this time of the day the traffic isn't bad at all.

I got a letter!

You may remember that I wrote to both Kay bailey-Hutchinson and John Cornyn about the Senate amnesty bill.
Here's what I got the other day:

Dear Mr. P:

Thank you for contacting me about immigration reform. The need to fix our
broken system is clear, and Congress is currently debating two proposals
regarding one of the most important issues in recent memory.

Immigration reform ultimately must be about improving legal immigration,
not about creating a new process that benefits only illegal aliens.
Although we are a nation of immigrants, we are also a nation of laws. If
all immigrants must abide by the rule of law and are treated equally, then
we can reach a consensus on ways to improve the legal process so that it
meets the needs of society, the economy, and our national security.

Last July, as Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Border
Security, Immigration, and Citizenship, I worked closely with Arizona
Senator Jon Kyl to formulate the Comprehensive Enforcement and Immigration
Reform Act of 2005 (S. 1438). This legislation offers no amnesty but
includes provisions to strengthen border security, ensure jobsite
enforcement, and sensibly handle the undocumented population currently
living within our borders. It is based on both the rule of law and the
fundamental American principle of fairness.

Unfortunately, the Senate passed the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act
of 2006 by a vote of 62 to 36. I voted against the bill because it has
serious flaws and the net loss it would cause our country. During the
Senate debate I tried to improve the legislation in preparation for its
consideration by a House-Senate conference, where it could be improved even
more. The final result must be marked improvement in border security,
employer accountability, better assimilation of legal immigrants, and
compensation for state expenses incurred from illegal immigration.

Ultimately, the final immigration plan will be worked out in a conference
committee that will reconcile the differences between the House of
Representatives’ immigration bill (H.R. 4437) and the Senate bill (S.
2611). I will be on that committee, and I look forward to creating
immigration laws that will be respected by American citizens and upheld by
all levels of government.

As chairman of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Border Security,
Immigration, and Citizenship, I will continue working to curtail illegal
immigration and its effects on the State of Texas while ensuring that
immigrants following the rule of law have an equal opportunity to realize
their potential as they become productive members of our society. To
better acquaint you with the reforms I support, I have compiled detailed
summaries of S. 1438 and other relevant information at
http://cornyn.senate.gov/immigration.

I appreciate the opportunity to represent the interests of Texans in the
United States Senate. Thank you for taking the time to contact me.

Sincerely,

JOHN CORNYN
United States Senator

I'm still waiting to hear from Ms Hutchinson.
Have you heard about Geno's Steaks of South Philly?

He's the one with the sign that says "This is America - when ordering, speak English."
Ok, now you may remember something about it.

Well fast forward to today and see what the "tolerant" left is doing:

The Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations complaint effectively opens a case against Geno's Steaks of South Philadelphia, said Rachel Lawton, acting executive director of the agency.
-Snip-
The sign may violate the city's Fair Practices Ordinance, which bans businesses from discriminating on the basis of nationality or ethnicity, Lawton said.

"The complaint will say that the sign discourages patronage by non-English speakers because of their national origin and/or ancestry," Lawton, whose agency enforces the city's anti-discrimination laws, said before the official filing.

That's right, they have the thought police out intimidating a private business for their beliefs.

This is America- a PRIVATE business can treat it's customers however it likes- if they don't like it they go somewhere else. THAT'S how you punish a business, they don't have customers, they don't have a business. Capitolism, but you Liberals wouldn't probably understand the concept.

Lets fisk another quote or two.
Geno's owner Joey Vento, the grandson of Italian immigrants, said he has no plans to remove the sign.

"I don't see why I should have to. It's freedom of speech," said Vento, 66, who opened the restaurant 40 years ago.

He said no one is refused service and no one is discriminated against. The sign, which has been displayed for about six months, is meant to encourage immigrants to learn English, he said.

"If you don't speak English, the sign means nothing," he told Reuters.

The restaurant, in a historically Italian neighborhood that seen an influx of Central American immigrants, has angered Latino groups.

Hmmm, the writer of this story seems to have the same problem with anglis as the non-english speakers do; or most likely Jon is a graduate of our elite journalism academies- if you didn't get it, re-read that last sentence again.

Roberto Santiago, executive director of the city's Council of Spanish Speaking Organizations, said he received around 50 "hate" e-mails in response to his criticism of the sign.

One from California said groups like his should be banned for representing "filthy, illegal alien invaders," he said.

"This is dividing this nation," he said. "I'm really saddened by these individuals who are upset by having to be tolerant. I'm glad I'm living in an America where comments like Mr. Vento's are out of order."

Yep, lets force our third world culture and language on a citzenry that HAS to "tolerate" us, so we don't have to assimilate into a first world country... like the Italians the story is about did.

Yes Señor Santiago, America is all about forcing people to accomodate your people who are either too lazy or stupid to learn the language and culture that is all around them. Because we can force people to be "tolerant" of your self-centered cunyaus, and third world hygene.

An answer to one of my commenters

For this post.

Hi sig94,
I thought you might be someone I have on my blogroll with almost the same name, so I sent him an e-mail with the answers. He's from upstate NY and as friendly as you'd expect from someone up there.

Here's some answers for you about Black Powder revolvers.

There are two basic types the Colt like I have, and the Remington.
Loading both is the same. Here is a fast and dirty rundown.
  1. At the start of every shooting session you pop a cap on each cylinder to blow out any oil and cr@p that might be in them.
  2. Use a seperat powder measure to load the chambers- if there is an ember and the powder cooks off you don't want to be holding a BP hand gernade.
  3. I use wonder-wads and then the ball. Other methods are ball over the powder (I use Pyrodex)and then grease (non petrolium).
  4. Seat the ball. The balls are oversized to make a tight seal in the chamber. You should peel off a small ring of lead when you seat the ball.
  5. Pointing in a safe direction, place the primer caps. There are two basic sizes (not counting muskets) number 11 and my pistol likes number 10. You can use #11 but need to squeeze it alittle so it doesn't fall off. That is usually the cause of chain fire- the fire from the next chamber igniting the open hole of the nipple.
It's easier to load using a loading stand to keep the pistol upright.

As far as cleaning, I take it apart and drop it into boiling water for about 5 min. and clean it like any other pistol. BP is alot more corrosive than modern smokless so you HAVE to clean it ASAP after shooting. I've heard that Windex w/ ammonia makes a good stopgap untill you can do a good cleaning at home.

To fieldstrip a colt, simply knock out the barrel wedge and it'll be in three basic parts- the barrel, the cylinder and the reciever. Use a well fitting screwdriver to remove the handle screws and the handle. You are now ready to drop in your pot.

If you want more info, here is an in depth article about the care and feeding of a cap and ball revolver.
I have a gunsmith book that says a brass frame is good for 700- 1500 rounds- depending on how hot you load it. My colt seems to like about 23 grains. More or less and the accuracy suffers. It's also impossible to overload a (modern) BP revolver. just remember DO NOT use modern smokeless powder.

Now, go buy one and have fun! You can make BIG holes and lots of smoke with a good looking wall hanger.

(UPDATE) The rear site on a Colt is the hammer, but you shouldn't have much trouble getting used to it- since it'll disappear on it's own.
Did y'all hear about the latest cheat?

CAN you hear the latest cheat?
Kids are downloading this ringtone to let them know the answers to their test questions have arrived.

Supposedly adults can't hear it. I tried, had to turn it up beyond what I usually set at but could hear it. Kinda sounds like an old vacuum tube TV that was a little out of adjustment. You know, that annoying whine?

I don't know why they allow kids to have cell phones in the classroom anyway, guess I'm old fashioned that way- expecting kids to be in school for education and learning to think like an adult (oops, thinking of the moral examples nowadays- lets scratch that one) instead of just socializing.

When is a civil war NOT a civil war?

How about when Bush has nothing to do with it?

I know, it's all the EEeevil Israelis fault that Hamas and Fatah are at each others throats, again.

Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas has placed his security forces on high alert after deadly factional violence in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

Mr Abbas ordered troops to take control after gunmen loyal to his Fatah group set fire to Hamas offices in Ramallah.

Violence flared after earlier clashes in Gaza, where two people were killed.

The Palestinian Authority has been dogged by a power struggle since Hamas won elections in January, ousting Fatah from government.
Senior Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat, an ally of Mr Abbas, told the BBC he was worried by the extent of the violence and concerned at the breakdown of law and order.

Things are slipping outside of our fingers like sand
Saeb Erekat
Palestinian negotiator
"I'm so alarmed, I'm so concerned, things are slipping outside of our fingers like sand.

"I think we're exerting maximum efforts, [but] we're not really undermining the underlying difficulties and complexities facing us."

Dude, do you have any idea WHY you human rats have no concept of peaceful accommodation?
Maybe it's because your brown trash society has focused on violent reaction to anything you see as ,,,,well,,,, an excuse to kill and main women and children.- with the blessing of the humanitarian watchdogs of the UN.
Everytime Israel gives up whatever y'all demand- it isn't enough and you send one of your drugged-up human bombs into a daycare center and then get yet ANOTHER pass by the same people who are all over American "atrocities".
I know it never occurred to you human cockroaches that maybe you all ought to maybe GROW UP, or at least just kill yourselves, and quit bothering people with a goal of something other than turning the rest of their neighborhood into a chithole like your "country".
I also notice that the vaunted Moslim brotherhood isn't doing a whole lot to help you.
I guess they know you.
I'm also curious as to WHY you think that you deserve Judea, anyway? The Jews have been there centuries before your perverted pedephile prophet MoHAMmed (Piss be upon him) brewed up your death cult. I also seem to remember That y'all pretty much decided to leave on your own when the U.N. made Israel a country.

Well, THAT explains why there are so many crappy drivers in Texas

(Aside from the illegals that don't bother to learn to drive, that is.)

I'm looking at the requirements for home taught drivers ed.
Here are two direct quotes from the TxDPS site:

How are the Classroom and Behind-the-Wheel Instruction Log Records utilized?
Classroom and Behind-the-Wheel Instruction Log Records are for the instructor's use only. You will enter the date of completion after the required hours for each specified unit title and driving time. These record logs are for instructor use. You may be required to present this form as proof you have completed all objectives outlined in the Parent Taught Education Program.

-Snip-
The student must take a written and vision examination prior to receiving the Texas Driver License Instruction permit. However, the skills (driving) test will be waived for teenagers who complete both classroom and behind-the-wheel portions of a Texas driver education course. The instructor participating in the Parent Taught Driver Education Program has the option to waive the skills (driving) test or require the student to pass the skills (driving) test administered by DPS prior to issuing a Class C driver license.

That's right, SUVsoccerMom can gundeck the entire drivers-ed thing and get Buffy a drivers license without cheerleader Buffy ever driving her brand new Bimmer- or showing she even knows where the brake is.

The way they drive in San Antonio is proof that new drivers are being taught by drivers without a clue, or common courtesy.
Well, I'm glad I'm not alone here

Alternativly titled "Hang-up and drive!"
I'm NOT the only person in America that thinks cell phone use should be banned while driving.
Approximatly 2/3 of Americans agree with me. Granted, it was a small sampling- but hey, major news stories have been planted on less.

The poll of 849 adults, of which 69 percent owned cell phones, was conducted in March and announced this week. While 29 percent of respondents said they did not want such a law, 65 percent said states should ban drivers from talking on cell phones.

Previous studies have suggested that kill thousands of people every year and create traffic jams. Even hands-free phone use has been shown to slow driver reaction times. Study leader Michael Traugott of the University of Michigan said the poll results show that people understand these risks.

"I think this is a reflection of inherent concerns about driving safety, as well as the concern about accidents due to cell phone use," Traugott told LiveScience.

60% would also ban them in planes.
Some 60 percent of those surveyed said they would maintain the ban on cell phone use in airplanes. Whether they owned a cell phone or not, the respondents were equally likely to support that ban.

"The concern about cell phone use in planes may relate to the fact that it is an enclosed space and people can't walk away from loud conversations in a way they can on land," Traugott said.

Cell phone use in public places was said to have irritated 60 percent of the respondents, but only 43 percent support banning cell phone conversations in places such as restaurants, theaters or museums.

And just like Congress they don't want a complete ban because: "They seem reluctant to impose restraints on their own behavior."

The problem isn't with the cell phone it's self, it's the distraction caused by talking to someone completly removed from your situation.
Not only do you have someone trying to tell Timmy the temp how to replace the toner in the copier you are causing traffic problems by having your head in the office and not in the car. Wether you have a handheld or hands-free phone your speed is changing and you probably aren't keeping track of changing traffic conditions. Add to the fact that you're sharing the road with people who never learned to drive right, or forgot all but the basics you throw in someone behind the wheel who isn't paying attention -you're looking at a wreck waiting to happen.

I notice that MADD hasn't embraced the prohibition on cell phones like they want to embrace every other "safety" issue that comes down the pike. I guess they don't care that talking on a cell phone causes you to drive like you're over .08 BAC -drunk.

Like I said before, it's not the item, it's the distration caused. Truckers have been using CBs forever- remember the CB craze in the 70's? Truckers need both hands to drive and shift- BUT they talk to other drivers and are aware of changing traffic and what to watch out for.

I also think that private companies should be allowed, if not encouraged to block cell phone signals in resurants and movie theaters. If you can't restrain yourselves and act like a civilized person- someone will have to make you respect the rights of others around you.

Jenni has a Bush joke

Sorry, but I'm an EEeeeevillllllll conservative- and all I can think about with this looming 'pandemic' is ,,,,,,,

SWINE FLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!

My memory must be slipping because I thought it was another Dhimmi Carter thing. Turns out That, too was a result of the U.S. electing a Rethulican and the flu thing was "just retribution" (if you believe in a higher being,,,)
Ok, all you wannabees

I got 19 out of 20 on this quiz, and I was a "Bee", not a "Squid". How well can you do on Navy slang?

And speaking of "bee's", I am delivering 'honey' now.

NO, I'm not driving a "honey waggon", it's corn syrup.

I thought that officers were supposed to be smarter than the average bear

But we have 1st Lt. Ehren Watada, 27 who joined the army in 2003 and is now realizing that there is a war on. Just to let you know- he doesn't want to go now.

"I feel that we have been lied to and betrayed by this administration," Watada said Tuesday in a telephone interview with the Seattle Times from Fort Lewis. "It is the duty, the obligation of every soldier, and specifically the officers, to evaluate the legality, the truth behind every order — including the order to go to war."

His attorney, Eric A. Seitz, says Watada submitted a letter to his command in January stating he had serious reservations about the Iraq war and felt he could not participate in it.

Did he think that by enlisting in combat arms- that he'd have a say in how he was assigned? What kind of dumb@ssed college grads is the Army taking nowadays?

Joe Hitt, a civilian spokesman at Fort Lewis, an Army post about 40 miles south of Seattle, confirmed that Watada is a member of the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, the Army's first Stryker Brigade Combat Team. The unit held a deployment ceremony Friday and will begin leaving later this month for its second mission in Iraq.

Hitt said the Army is aware of Watada's plans but has no comment.

Watada, a native of Honolulu, enlisted in the Army in 2003 after graduating from Hawaii Pacific University. He reported for boot camp in June of that year and began officer candidate school two months later.

The article goes on to proudly link him with other comunist socialist anti American peace activists.

So what we have here is a college grad who joined the Army DURING a war and went into combat arms- instead of say the Supply corps, or Engineers- and wants to pick and choose his assignments. Probably with the cavet that he doesn't hurt anybody in carrying out his mission.
,,,,,,,,Unless of course, they're EEeevil Republicans.

You Are 48% Cynical

Yes, you are cynical, but more than anything, you're a realist.

You see what's screwed up in the world, but you also take time to remember what's right.

And in other worlds- if you're tired of "dolphin free tuna" get some yourself. Gamecheat- hit the merman and mermaid to go up a level, and be sure your sound is on.

CNN and I

Did ya ever hear about the falling ratings for CNN compaired to say,,,,FOX?
I have a feeling they're worse than is being let on, because the only ones with CNN on is the public acess TVs in waiting rooms.
I just had my DOT physical today and had to sit through the gas"crisis" ballyhoo, and the Republicans inposing a(n) Anti-gay marraige ammendment on America. Then I got to see the Knockdown, dragout fight of the ,,, well,,,, hour between

The Preach

and.......

SNAKEHEAD!!!!!!!

(Bloggers having fits, or there would be pics instead of links)

The only things I heard in the three plus hours that I was there that I agreed with was that the Republican Congress is out of touch, and the "Anti-Gay" marraige amendment wasn't needed.

Oh, I'm also in excellent shape for a 4(coff) year old fat guy. My Doc doc, told me I'm as healthy as a horse, as far as heart, blood and lungs go- anyway. Cool, I'll be sitting in a new truck (when we move to Hondo) and dry in the rain and cool when it's 100+ in the shade.

Hmmm,,,,,,,that's ALL????

Your Job Dissatisfaction Level is 71%

Your job is a total bummer, and probably the worst job you've ever had.

Your co-workers stink. Your boss is a jerk. And your company is probably in trouble.

Think about finding a new job quickly, even if it's just a not-so-great transition job.

You've got to get out of there as quickly as you can!

Oops, I made a mistake

I was looking to see what kind of health insurance would cost for me if I took the driving job, so I filled out a quote request. In the space of two days, the health spam hsa increased from none to sky high on one of my throw-away mails.
You'd think that someone who was trying to get your business would want to kinda keep your potential profits to themselves, instead of selling your e-address to ALL of their competitors. I KNOW that there are people out there that actusally buy the cr@p sold on spam- that's why so much is out their, but I learned my lesson on asking insurance companies for help online.

New discoveries

In addition to helping relieve arthritise pain, burn healing, starter fluid, disinfectant for cuts, adhesive removal, grease cutter, and water displacing formula- among others, WD-40 is pretty good at cleaning Black powder weapons, too.

I found that out while drenching the workings of the revolver a while ago.

I just wanted to wait untill I cleaned the thing and remembered to get a pic of it right out of the boiling water. Yes ladies, that's the kitchen sink on the left. I cook, I use it and I'll clean it up. That's how it works in this unenlightened knuckle-dragging conservative cave of mine.

If Rush said it, it has to be true

Right?
C'mon you dittheads, you mind numbed robots.....

Just kidding, I listen when I can.
I just heard him on the way home today talking about how the Senate amnesty bill is unconstitutional because the "draconian" fines and back taxes (you pick two of the last five years you want to pay) is. I searched for it and couldn't find it- so no links, sorry

It's not because they're rewarding lawbreakers with citzenship, or anything like that.
It's that the House is the ony one leagally authorized to generate revenue bills (if I remember right). When I parked the truck, Rush was saying that the bill is pretty much dead in the water.

Sorry Rush, but the way the Senate is leaning, they'll just take that little impediment away and give them citizenship for free. I know that Rush is on the cutting edge of societal evolution, but he missed that one big-time.
Maybe (ex-Texas governor) Bush can get a clue from the current Texas governor

Rick Perry wants to deploy realtime cams along the hardest to patrol sections of the border. Interestingly, it's also were alot of the crossings are happening.
"With the voluntary participation of private land owners, the state will begin posting hundreds of surveillance cameras along criminal hotspots and common routes used to enter this country," Perry said. The effort is part of a border security initiative that Perry launched Thursday, saying the state must step up efforts in response to inactivity by the federal government.
The video, which will include night vision, will be available to state, local and federal authorities and will be posted on the Internet in real time, Perry said.
"When citizens witness a crime taking place, they will be able to call an 800-number that will be routed to the appropriate law enforcement agency," he said.
"I look at this as not different from the neighborhood watches we have had in our communities for years and years," Perry said.

He said the cameras would be placed in the "very, very far reaches where it's hard to get to, where there are very few roads in" but where illegal drug activity and immigrant trafficking occur.

The governor also said he'll allocate $20 million in this two-year budget cycle to continue Operation Rio Grande, an ongoing border security plan. That money will pay for officer overtime and equipment such as body armor, four-wheel drive vehicles and night-vision goggles."

Governor Perry also mentioned his old bosses approach to border control:

"Enforcing the border is the federal governments responsibility, but Texas will not wait for them to act," Perry said. "A stronger border is what the American people want and it's what our security demands and it's what Texas is going to deliver."

Great start Gov., now lets work on eliminating some of those incentives to illegals like, instate tuition and state funded entitlements.

Just an aside to all those apologists who say that a multinational business can't determine if documents are real. I didn't graduate from college, but I KNOW that if I have 2 or 10 or 100 workers with the same SSN that something's funny with their documentation.

Comming up soon- Evil, Rich Republicans taxing the "poor" unfairly.

How not to use a 10 pump BB gun

Joe shows what happens when you play with guns. Be carful, you'll put someone's eye out with that.
Choices

I'm at a bit of a fork in the road.
I have two job offers, one for a trucking company and the other a flagpole company.

I'm not getting any younger and the thought of sitting in a nice dry cab in crappy weather (with A/C in the summer) is a definite draw. The idea of not getting rained out helps, too. The drawbacks are that I'd be delivering corn syrup to bottling plants and bakeries inside San Antonio, and they don't offer health insurance. The pay is acceptable, but not huge-I can live on $500- $600 a week. This job will also be moving to Hondo in Aug. which makes it even more attractive.

The flagpole job offers better pay and benefits and not that hard of work- drilling holes and setting poles. I'd be out in the weather and getting rained out. That's not usually a problem in S. Texas, although there are times when we have a front stalled on top of us for days at a time. The pay could make it worth my while, and as it's an expanding company the ability to advance into A/C is inviting.

The trucking job I can start tomorrow because he really needs drivers, but the flagpole job is weeks in the future. The older I get, the more these decisions matter in the future. I dunno, guess I'll just flip a coin- either way I'll be second guessing myself.
